Should the release cadence be increased to 3-4 months period?

Many players sit there on release day and rush through everything at once so that they’re pretty much all done before the next day. There are players that take there time and make it last over a month.

IMO the drought is when the vast majority of the players is truly dying for some content. When some eat up the content too fast is just pressure issues with the public water supply.

That assumes that there is an actual threshold established, players have a way to verify we’ve reached that, and players actually use that to justify claims of content drought.

  • I doubt players will agree on what that threshold likely is and Anet will not tell us theirs if they have one.
  • No reliable way and gw2efficiency has been argued as unreliable.
  • Every claim of content drought I have seen as been based on the player’s own POV.
  • Exactly at what point is content currently considered consumed for a given player? When they’ve completed the story? When they’ve done everything possible? What if they don’t want to do all of the achievements?

My personal meter is when no one seems to contradict the guy who is saying there is a content drought. This has happened only once in this game, and we know when it was. It is anecdotal, of course, but if you understand, we probably agree.

3 months is already comical given the lack of what each cycle brings. If they want this content to last between releases then there needs to be more items to work towards. New skin sets for every cycle to give collectors/fashion something to aim for because frankly the fashion in this game has been relegated to the gemstore where it doesn't belong.

While Episode is delayed and it may also be released on June 26th, it really brings up the question: should there be 4 months cadence at least, while they want to make the episodes more exclusive than Season 3 ones.

Also if one episode is being delayed, another ones are also delayed. So if they would keep the 3 months cadence as they used to, then the episode would have hit yesterday, then Ep 4 would hit on September, and now it can also be released on November.

So if this goes like that the expac 3 will be released in the late 2021- if there will be any expac, though.

So better to announce the new release cadence, than keep apologizing the people if they're being delayed.

Did you take the time to read the announcement?

The Living World Team currently is hard at work preparing Episode 3 of Living World Season 4. We’re excited about how it’s shaping up, but wanted to give you a heads up that the release date will be a little outside our normal release cadence. Our key focus while creating the Living World experience is the quality bar we’ve set for ourselves for each episode. With the amount of gameplay and breadth of content in Living World, we noticed that we had an opportunity to make some adjustments to how we approach developing each episode that will help us hit our quality standards more consistently. This logistical change has had some short-term “cost” in time, but will provide benefits to all Living World episodes moving forward. We’ll be announcing Episode 3 as the date gets closer, and everyone on the team is looking forward to playing this new content with you!

It was a logistical change that costs time short-term, but in the long run we might return to the previous release schedule. It was more of a temporary delay.

It is 2-4 moths period since season 3. They did the big mistake and we had a 9 months content drought before HoT and then again 8 months content drought (aside raids). After that they were quite productive.

The only thing I don't like is that there is no road map. Other companies can do it, I don't see why Anet isn't able to do that. It's now 3 months since last release and we don't have any idea, but maybe they will release additional stuff like a new raid wing, fractals and/or other features.
