Offhand weapon damage ?

One thing that has never been clear to me is related to weapon damage. If I use an offhand weapon that is exotic and thus lower weapon damage range than the ascended counterpart, do only my offhand weapon skills fire with that reduced weapon damage or is my mainhand also effected?

The damage values of your off-hand weapon only affects the direct damage of skill 4 and 5. I found this out by buying a Basic-quality pistol from an NPC (see Exhibit A). The Basic Pistol damage ranges from 534 to 627, versus the Ascended Pistol's 876 to 1029, and has 48 less Power.

With Ascended Pistols on both hands, the listed damage for Unload (per shot) is 396, while Head Shot is 248.

After swapping in the Basic Pistol to the off-hand, Unload is listed as 389, while Head Shot is 148. The loss of damage to Unload is like due to the difference in total Power when using the Basic Pistol.

Oops, just realized my mistake. This comparison is between a Basic Pistol and an Exotic Pistol, not Ascended.
