[NA] Looking for semi-casual PvE guild

Recommended Posts

My previous guild was hardcore into WvW, Raids, and T4 fractals and while some members worked to change that (the guild leaders invited indiscriminately, so a lot of PvEers got frustrated with not getting help), the leadership didn't take kindly to the complaints. In hindsight, "lower" members were being used to prop up a small group of friends in the leadership. While the meme of having a "mistress" as a leader was funny at first, after realizing she is on the achievement leaderboard the attitude of the guild clicked.

I was one of the members who worked to help others with PvE content, especially in leading the smaller, less-done metas and achievements (think Serpent's Ire, Maws of Torment, Verdant Brink and story achievements). I'd love to get into raids more and do T4 fractals, but unfortunately I was barred from participating with my guild due to "lack of experience" (well, don't invite random people to your guild then!).

I'd like to be a part of a guild with the same sentiments I have--helping others experience content that doesn't require elitism and content that isn't easy to experience due to lack of commanders. So far the large guilds I've been a part of have given false promises.

Alternatively, if you're looking for the same and don't yet have a guild, I'd welcome you to join me.

If you find that guild, let me know.

My former guild had me go through a suicide run (and utterly unfun for me) as the very first guild event in the two weeks I was recruited just so they could get their Guild Hall established. It was a brand new guild, and now I'm seeing why they made their own guild: The already established guilds out there wanted nothing to do with this lot. There was only one person that really tried to do his best to help me out and was indeed a knowledgeable player. While I was getting help from this good Samaritan, the guild lead just wouldn't stop bragging about her WvW rank on the guild's Discord. But whenever I asked for a guild dungeon run for the past two weeks, it was all silence.

I figured one good person doesn't make a good guild, so I added him to my friend's list and quit the guild. I know you can be in 5 guilds at once, but the guild wasn't even worth having as an "alt-guild" at this point. I'm just looking for one awesome guild with more than one awesome person that runs the show. Guild lead has to be one of them.

If you're over 30 (which is a hard requirement for us), you might want to check out Just Us Grownups [JUGs]. We're a group of "older" people, with a very laid-back, casual attitude. Our event calendar has something on it most days of the week and newcomers to the game are welcome. For the more experienced folks we regularly run raids and high-level fractals, so it's our attitude that's casual, not necessarily the content we play. We have members in time zones all over the world (but mostly NA, which is the server you must be on so you can join the guild) and have people in-game at a variety of times. We are a very sociable group and use TeamSpeak3 for voice comms. The most intriguing thing about us is probably that we don't have any officers (we have only two co-leaders that do the necessary admin stuff for the guild, otherwise the members drive the bus). We have very few rules, and no rep or in-game participation requirements -- and the few that we do have are to make it very clear and plain that we won't tolerate drama, bad/elitist attitudes, or disrespect.

For a more detailed introduction about us, I'll refer you to our recruitment thread here, where you'll find a good summary about our guild, links to our website (which you should look over thoroughly if you're interested), some documents about how we roll, and how to apply (all applications need to go through our website; we don't do applications from forums or in-game requests).

Greetings Orimundu,

That's definitely not a fun experience at all. Based on that, I think it sounds like you might like my little home. We're called The Gryphons Aerie and we’re a small, casual/semi-casual yet social, 18+, PvE, family on Tarnished Coast. We love to help new and returning players get back on their feet. We're currently trying to rebuild our core ranks in order to have more regular guild events. Our current peak time tends to be in the mid-late evening EST (UTC-5), starting around reset, but we have a few others who are around from various time zones as well.

We’re willing to help out with any and all questions as best as we can, whether it's dungeons/Fractals, builds, and other general game questions. All you need to do is ask. We also don’t do the “speed runs”, exploits, etc, nor require anyone to bring a specific class or build for any dungeon run. Bring whatever you want and we'll have fun regardless.

We know that RL comes first and stress that fact. We’ll still be there even if you can’t for a bit of time. Just leave a little note to let us know you'll be away, and all is well.

We do not demand 100% representation. It’s not our business to tell you who you can and cannot associate with; that choice is yours alone.

We are focused on providing a place where people can feel comfortable and as though they are more than just a name on the roster. We want everyone to feel like family. We are very LGBTQ+ affirmative and do not tolerate any sort of derogatory words, comments, bigotry etc. toward anyone regardless of nationality, race, religious beliefs, gender identity or sexuality. Anyone violating that policy is subject to immediate removal, no questions asked.

We also have a Discord, where everyone is expected to use the text channels to some degree, but the voice channels are never required.

In order to maintain our "quality vs. quantity" aspect and help build the family-like atmosphere of the guild, we require an application. This application asks only for basic information to help us try to organize things to fit around everyone's schedules and takes just a few minutes.

For more information, and to take the next step in joining us, please check out our Guild Website.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note here or contact me in game and I’ll do my best to answer them.
