New Charater creation - Is this essential?

Recommended Posts

Why when people create new character, maybe they have a lvl boost, maybe the have tome scrolls... If like me and you make new charters often ... why for the love of god am I required to go though the tutorial over and over again... is there a legitimate reason? is it really necessary? bloody annoying!!

Why are you so upset over something that takes maybe five minutes? SMH

And yet you can skip most of the parts.Examples:

Human tutorial: After speaking with the Seraph Captain you can run behind the fortress and go ahead and fight against the two rock hands boss.

Norn tutorial: After speaking to the two hunters at the beginning, you can run right to the brawlers and other hunters along with Eir at the gate and run along with them and fight the ice wurm boss.

Sylvari tutorial: After speaking to Caithe about the dream/nightmare, you can run over the bridge right away if someone else has killed enough with nightmare hounds.

Just wanted to note that you can only do that if others have already reached the point where the centaur leader summons the rock hands. If you just run back there before that's happened, you'll be forced to wait (or go over and help do the part that leads to the rock hands).

Everytime I have done that, there is always players who are attacking the boss, you can even hear the dialouge if you should go straight to the rock hands boss or just go back to the Garrison.

In the past people managed to get out of the instance through bugs or other means and the story bugs out with no way to continue the personal story at all.

It is a tutorial mission, not sure why you are saying its not, lol

You don't even need to speak to anyone, you can just run straight from the spawn point to where the boss appears. And since you can't die in the tutorial and it will give you event credit just for being in the area (you don't need to attack anything) you could get there and then go afk until it's dead. It might take a while if there's no other players but it works.

Each one has a gate (a literal gate, except the sylvari one where it's a bridge) which will lock you out of the 'boss arena' while the fight is going on, and you're given a secondary event killing enemies to do while you wait. But the same applies there - you can't die and the event will progress without you having to do anything (because it's actually dependent on how long the people inside take to kill the boss) so you can go afk until it's done if you want, but it usually only takes a few minutes.

Alternatively if you don't care what race you play as pick asura. Every time I've done it in the last 6 months or so the gate event hasn't been working, so I could run straight from the starting point to the boss fight and sometimes I've gotten in just in time to see the boss die and then been kicked to the main map. Sucks for new players who will miss out on that experience, but it's good for people who just want to get through it ASAP.

Exactly its that annoying people are willing to risk get banned to skip it...

I don't think anyone got banned for it. The problem with using bugs to get out without completing the instance is then your Personal Story would be stuck on that step, and because there's no way to get back into the instance you couldn't complete it. So you were locked out of the story forever.

I'm sure some people would say that's fine and they're sure they would never, ever want to do the story on that character but Anet decided it was better to prevent anyone getting out without completing it than to build another solution - probably because the tutorial can be done in a few minutes so it wasn't worth the work it would take to create a way to skip it.

For Humans, you can jump down into the river and walk up to the far side of the fort where the boss spawns. No gate waiting required.

It

Mainly because the games' tutorial appears throughout the first few dozen levels whenever new concepts are introduced, it's not just this instance, where you learn very little but you're right, it's just not a very good tutorial.

Regardless, the OPs question was why can't it be skipped and the reason is because it's the first instance of the personal story and skipping it breaks the personal story.

Literally involves talking to 2 NPCs and walking down a hill. Max two minutes.

You don't even have to talk to the second NPC. Just talk to the one next to where you load in, and then run to the back side of the garrison. But, again, you might have to take a little bit extra time if the boss isn't up when you get to the back. Still no more than 5 minutes total, though.
