Top stats and the purpose of them!

So you add a mechanic to the game called top stats, so you can earn these from doing certain things in pvp to gain a badge to show you had the most of something that they can award. These achievements (so called) give the player a false understanding that they believe by gaining one or more these badges means that they did something to win the match up.

Now this brings me to the main point, these stats mean nothing in the overall match and do nothing but inflate peoples egos into believing that as an example "Me playing berserker ranger can give top damage" but if you constantly die because you have no sustain then you still get your badge but you still lose the match because you couldnt do nothing else.

So why have these badges in the pvp matches as they serve no purpose apart from inflating peoples ego and maybe seeing what you think your build was good at and did well in.

Remove these archaic stats from pvp as they serve no purpose at all. Im personally not interested in what my build was good at as i know what it should be capable of before i even made the build. Only winning is the true objective.

Sometimes they can be partially interesting. I particularly enjoy it when you see a thief get top healing when there's also a firebrand on the team. That can be a good indicator as to what the weak link was and why you lost. But I agree that most of the time they are irrelevant.

What would be more interesting is to be able to see every players rating after a match. With an indicator as to how much they gained/lost for their performance.

So what you are saying is along as I play zerker and get top damage or another top stat i get +1 extra pip and 3 normal pips for losing and thinking that my top stat helped the game or just play to win instead and not thinking about if i get a top stat and get awarded 10 pips for winning.

I know which one I would prefer.

Off course I do. You prefer to get 10 pips for win +1 for top stats, no?

You are exxagerating, i don't see any negative impact on the game from the top stats mechanic. I even find them helpful at times especially when i change something on my build.Would be nice if there was more to it though like maybe a title tied to top stats or a badge like the little star that you get once you have 100% map completion.

This is why they need removing even anet dont see them as a reason to use them as a marker for game changing impacts so i say get rid of it as it serves no purpose

It will never happen! People have been asking for this since its became a thing in pvp and anet have stated that they will not consider it. Which brings me back to my point that they should be removed from pvp.
