Unable to Uninstall

I am trying to uninstall GW2, bought it when it first came out, played it for many years, I haven't played it in a while but I've kept it on my computer, assuming that one day I'll get back to it. However, as a former software programmer, I have no interest in supporting ANet, or in participating in anything that they do in the future. Additionally, this game is taking up 30GB of space that I could be using for games that I actually intend to play. I just want to get this game off of my computer.

However, when I try to uninstall GW2, either via Win10's Apps menu, or via command line, I get a message that a serious error has occurred and a dialog to send a report. I have tried to do this for several days now, with the same result. I have sent the error report to ANet (several days ago), but I have received no feedback. I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find a similar problem. The full error message is as follows:

Either just delete all files, or rename GW2-64.exe to GW2.exe.

As a former software developer, you should know how to fix that.I think you just bring in your unnecessary Anti-arenaNet attitude in here, as if the firings have anything even remotely to do with you, a former (!) software developer.You never played the game apparently or just very little, kept in on the computer for years, and suddenly you use this fake reason to uninstall? Come on.

(Delete the files and either look manually for the leftovers in the registry or let them be there. The entry in the appwiz.cpl can be removed later either by force or Windows realize itself that the program's not there anymore)

My concern with deleting all the files is that this is still leaving registry settings and such, plus any files that are stored outside of the main game directory (such as in userspace). I've found that it's often a bad idea to just manually delete a game if it's been installed (as opposed to small indie games that are downloaded and unrared/unzipped into a folder).

As for changing the name of the file, there is already a GW2.exe file in the folder. When I try to uninstall via the App menu, apparently it uses GW2-64.exe, but even if I go into the command line and type "GW2.exe -uninstall" I get the exact same error (pasted below). It looks like even if you go through the regular GW2.exe, it runs the 64-bit executable. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit, so that might be expected behavior.

And ... you opened yourself up to gratuitous criticism by gratuitously mentioning your past profession and then making some elementary mistakes.

tl;dr keep it simple: delete the install folder, the cache, and the My Documents detritus that every thing puts on our computer.

TBH, he was right though.. and as for "oh no cos it leaves registry settings".. pretty sure a software dv should be able to handle a little manual registry manipulation or use a reg cleaner.I think we get it, your not a fan of the ANET decisions of late and your wanting to put a post out to let us know your displeasure.
