Game Client need to login twice

When I type my password in and hit Login the Play button doesn't change from Ready. I have to log out and then log back in before the Play button shows up. This happens EVERYTIME I attempt to login.

How do I fix this?

This has been a problem for me since I first started playing 3 years ago. I mentioned it in a ticket I sent in way back then but Anet completely ignored me on the issue.

Delete the gw2cache folder(s) under the %temp% folder prior to launching. Is it still a problem?

The launcher displays an enabled or disabled ready or play button depending on the state it's in. If it thinks it needs to patch, it'll show a disabled play button. If it thinks it's showing a message, it'll show a disabled ready button. If you don't have 2FA enabled for example, it should show a message every other login, which could appear to make you login twice. It could also simply be a visual error (click it).
