What to do with Dragonite Ore and BloodStone Dust?

Recommended Posts

I've been playing for years but never was interested in crafting and just stuck with exotics, since I only do open world. So I typically just sold all crafting materials on the TP, but I've also accumulated a lot of account-bound Dragonite Ore and BloodStone Dust over the years and it was just filling up my bags and banks so I've been habitually just destroying tons of it.

(I can already hear the sounds of a thousand facepalms.)

Recently, I've leveled my armorsmithing to 500 in hopes of crafting ascended armor, only to find out its timegated (wtf, really??). So I guess I'll craft the armor eventually, but I still imagine even after that I'll be acquiring more Dragonite Ore and BloodStone Dust over time, so I guess I should finally ask:

Is there something useful to do with this stuff or should I keep destroying it?

Thanks! I never knew about those. Since I'm a casual and I just wasn't interested in crafting or finding out the use of the 3,456,789 different currencies and 9,876,543 crafting components and the 1,234,567 different unique items out there, I never investigated it. And honestly, without your response I have no idea how I was supposed to know about these things from in-game context. I like GW2 a lot but its almost as if the wiki should be another map in the game, since it seems necessary to spend so much time there. :)

It's not always easy to find out about such things. The LS3 converters can be found if you spend time digging through the achievements. The star is pretty hard to miss if you're on at wintersday. But Princess is pretty well hidden, and Mawdrey is only hinted at when you play through LS2. Dragonite ore isn't very useful if you're not trying to build a guild hall or craft ascended gear, but bloodstone dust is needed for lots of achievements and crafting items, and when you need it, you're going to need a lot.

Getting the Gleam of Sentience is a huuuge help. It's part of the collection to Aurora but it's super useful even if you don't want to make the entire legendary accessory.Herta is a bloodstone dust eater that eats an entire stack of dust in one go, and is pretty easy to get with an collection in Auric Basin.Princess is also an easy one with a collection in Lion's Arch.

I personally do not recommend getting mawdrey just because there's so many other eaters out there that can eat through your stacks in no time., so much that you might run out of those materials and want to farm more to get more lootbags (even though they have mostly junk in them, it's still free money!)
