Graphical glitches in textures in the maguuma jungle only new 1070 Ti latest drivers

Recommended Posts

I purchased the HoTs + PoF combo 3 days ago, I had been playing without seeing anything weird either in the regular game or in the expansions until today. I can reproduce this all the time in the same rock and I was able to get the same exact effect on one of those huge roots that you can walk on top of. This happened in Verdant Brink, basically in the right angle or rather as I move I see what seems to be the textures glitch and show black noise. I recorded and uploaded a video to youtube, see the 2 rocks near me how they glitch and show black textures as I move around. I have the latest Nvidia drivers on a 1070 Ti Card I bought 3 weeks ago. Should I RMA the card?, I haven't seen these issues with other games or anywhere else in Guild Wars 2. Card stays at a cool 50 C, and CPU (i5 2500k OC to 4.1 ghz) stays at 54 C measured with HWMonitor. I play with everything on max except shadows on High (not ultra) and sampling as native. Please see:

To me it doesn’t look like its fading, although that could be the case and it just looks really bad, it is literally black noise on top of the texture that only happens while moving in a certain angle, the strangest part is that I have only seen this in the magumma jungle and nowhere else, and its always on those 2 rocka by the endpoint, happens even if I restart the PC, so that textures can be reloded in different card memory locations (or at least I think that’s the case).

@Malediktus.9250 said:Does not look like LOD to me (just to make sure is LOD set to ultra?)It is probably a bug that needs to be fixed by Nvidia in their drivers and not by Anet

What is LOD?, is that shadows? I have them set to high, it could be an Nvidia issue but the 1070 series has been out for a long time and I have the latest Nvidia drivers, it would be odd that they haven't fixed this issue yet in any of the drivers in my opinion.

@Malediktus.9250 said:LOD distance, it is a little bit above shadows. Goes from low to ultraLOD means level of detail

Thank you, I had it in High and I just changed it to Ultra, stuff looks nicer, didn't know there was an Ultra option, however as soon as I teleported to the Pact Encapment waypoint I saw the exact same issue in those rocks.

After playing for a bit with LOD in Ultra in the maguuma jungle, I think its worst, I have seen the exact same effect in other places now, its split seconds but it's there and goes away. Still haven't seen it anywhere else but in the maguuma jungle.

@Malediktus.9250 said:It just makes high quality textures appear at higher distances. So ultra should not look worse than high

Thank, it doesn't look worst, but I managed to see that black stuff effect on a couple more places than just the rock while playing with LOD Ultra. I saw it for a split second in the distance on some patch of grass.
