Ok, so I have mained elementalist since release- in fact, I have played and mained Ele since 2005 when Guild Wars 1 came out- 13 years, wow! :O However, I have become disgruntled with the state of Ele right now. I have started maining my Engineer (Holo), and I am in sheer shock of how strong it actually is compared to Ele, in both PVE and PVP. I have gone from averaging silver/gold with my Ele in PVP to Upper Tier Gold/Platinum. I am wiping through enemies in PVE and I am now considering taking up Engineer as a main for Fractals! Fractals is my main thing and something I enjoy and what I normally use my Ele for. But before I start spending on agony infusions, how do you all find engineer in fractals? Is it useful? Wanted? From what I have seen, it does seem to have very good DPS?

The Engineer was my first 80. Normally I'm all about the DoT classes, but I'm not a fan of how they're implemented here. Now, I have my small stable of alts, most notably my Elementalist, Thief, and Necromancer. The Scrapper killed all my enjoyment with the Engineer, and the Tempest (Auramancer) was my go-to in HoT, however since the Holosmith came out, I've fallen back in love with the Engineer class. Most notably because of the easy rotations. The Weaver is fun, but it's way too meticulous with it's rotation - if you blow your rotation in the slightest, you're screwed. The Tempest just isn't what it was in HoT, unless you use the Staff - which I hate.

IF you can perform in Fractals & Raids, you're DEFINITELY welcome as a Holosmith. My burst-damage is off-the-charts. My overall damage is well into the top-tier. I've YET to be kicked or smack-talked in Raids / Fractals because of my chosen profession.

Trust me, biggest issue you'll have as an Engineer is finding armor that fits the theme of the Holosmith. I just use Magitech like every other Holosmith out there.

Weaver blows engi and everything else out of the water damage wise in fractals. It has been one of the strongest DPS there if not the strongest for quite a while.

With that said Holo is also good, if you do daily CMs you can do either just fine.

Warbeast might also work if you use the holosmith shoulders and an appropriate headpiece (scrapper's mask and gas mask work well). Mind you, my Engineer is a female charr, which is pretty much fashion wars hard mode.

Thanks guys, I just seem to be enjoying engineer more at the moment so looks like it will be becoming my main till elementalist is sorted (if it ever will be). In terms of gear, I use the outfit "Dynamics Exo Suit". It works really well with the sort of Sci-Fi theme of Holomancer, looks awesome as well!

Please. The only thing that identifies you as a Holosmith is that holo projector on your arm. A hobo carrying that is officially a Holosmith. Doesn't have to be all techy and stuff.
