Saunby.5306
Right guys, how long on average does it take to get the gift of battle? I am on 9k out of 20k to get it, I am not very keen on WVW unfortunately (sorry), but I would like my legendary! I have been putting this off for years, and I am tempted to just buy a legendary! Chaba.5410
I think it is about 8 hours assuming full participation tier and no boosters. Just think, that's about 4 Dragon Stand metas...Be sure to use boosters.https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track"The minimum time for completing a reward track (without boosters) is 8h 35m (103 ticks), where 195 points are earned per tick. The overall minimal time to complete a reward track is 4h 20m (52 ticks), where all available boosters increases the points per tick from 195 to 390.Progress is also awarded on consuming Potion of WvW Rewards, or receiving Instant Reward Track Progress. Potion of WvW Rewards are obtained from Daily achievement reward chests that have a WvW objective and grant 250 points. For the completion of a reward track 80 Potion of WvW Rewards are needed. Instant Reward Track Progress is obtained on opening a chest from the Skirmish reward track, granting 25 points each. Both potions grant points to the currently selected reward track, and are not affected by boosts. "

What @Chaba.5410 said. And thank you for not griping about it. Also, getting the participation up helps some if you get in with a Zerg. But it's far from necessary. Just safety in numbers. HazyDaisy.4107
I haven't actually timed the track, but they say 6-8 hours depending on how many boosters you're running. Also 80-90 (I think it's 88 exact) wvw potion's will obliterate a reward track if you have them saved up, if not you can also use them as you collect them to knock off a little time. Guillotine Princess.9341
80 potions to complete a reward track from start to finish, each potion provides 1.25% of progress needed.
Illconceived Was Na.9781
If you aren't keen on doing WvW, you can do the dailies that are mostly PvE: veteran beast, ruins|sanctuary, cap camps (2x), kill a dolyak, kill 5 NPCs, and especially Big Spender. Investing 5 maybe 10 minutes per day, you should manage to get 15 potions a week minimum, so no more than 6 weeks to get enough to finish a reward track. The other nice thing about this method is you can do it year round, building up stacks for when you need them. And if you don't make more legendaries, you can spend them on festival reward tracks (historically, the most lucrative has been Wintersday) or the Glorious Armor track (which is handy for decking out a new toon in exotic armor with your choice of stats). There are various guides (on these very forums among others) about how to do the dailies efficiently, although I'm reasonably sure you'll figure it out without help. (Or feel free to ask here if you get stuck.)
Hoon.1524
Just pop a ton of boosters, treat WvW zerging as PvE Meta-chain zerging and you're set.
Saunby.5306
Ok thanks everyone, I will just get my head down and persevere with it, I have had the gift of exploration since the first year the game came out- I have been putting it off waaaayyy too long! Just have to decide on the legendary now!

VanWilder.6923
I did not like WvW at first. But recently I join WvW everyday. Its more fun than open World PvE IMO.Try not to care or focus too much on the reward track, cause you will feel thing get too slow and boring.Remember the last day at school, last 10 mins was the longest wait! stop looking at the clock! I just never have really got along with it, I never know what to do if there is no Commander around, there isn't much contribution I can do or gain much experience without a zerg. I enjoy PVP, but with WvW it seems more like I am just running around breaking into buildings than fighting. I'm an old school Guild Wars 1 player, I am more PVE orientated and enjoyed the PVP arena's in Ascalon, WvW wasn't around then. Plus, I don't really know anyone on the game anymore, my mates have been and gone and quit, and doing WvW alone is quite boring.

I die a lot but tbh most of the time 'outnumbered' is in play and it doesn't harm the score and I learn and force the opposition to take time to kill me LoL. But it's FUN.... DeadlySynz.3471
If I'm using a booster, I get about 1GoB a day easily. If you don't like WvW, then the key finding a commander on your server that's more of a K-trainer (every server has them), and join WvW when they are on and use a booster. You may not be playing with allies, but you are most definitely playing with enemies ;-) They are players just like you and me, getting to know them during a 2 hour session is probably the greatest experience I have in gw2. So much so that my quick 30 minutes to do daily end up in 4 hour runs.

hammu.1752
I also went to wvw just to get GoB for my 1st legendary. But i got a bit hooked since im maybe a sort of adrenaline junkie and fighting real ppl is so much more exiting than computer. Im still a pure noob there, doing my third reward track atm, and learning stuff. I felt it wasnt very easy for me to start, didnt know what to do. So I read a guide: "find a commander and follow him." Oki then, went to EotM to practice stuff. Looked for a commander and found one. Followed him, to a big blop of people, i assumed they were preparing for attack. When i got there, they said "---- can you please leave", "--ck off" and "gvg". Ok. So much for that. Thought, screw this, and went to some real mist map to pick up a fight. 1st there was some mesmer who made thousand of clones and insta killed me by exploding those. 2nd i found some permastealth thief who backstabbed me to death. 3rd i went to look for some allies and found a blob of 50 ppl who were zerging around and spamming endless deadly aoe conditions. "So this if wvw", i thought. Not very attractive.Anyway, i got my 1st GoB after three quite quick gaming sessions, i must say that wasnt that bad at all, especially if you get and compare to the wvw-ppl's point of view, where they have to do all pve maps to get the gift of exploration. My (a noob's) suggestion for making wvw a bit more enjoyable would be (1st) to try to do smt to those massive blob aoe condi spam thingy, for me that seems quite mindless gameplay. Second, i think they should fix classes like thief and mesmer. I know it might be a learn-to-play-issue, but nowadays, if i see either of those classes, i dont bother. Oc i have a very limited knowledge to other classes since im a warrior for life, but, for example, today when i was waiting a daily veteran creature to show up, and i didnt see anyone anywehere, a deadeye popped from stealth behind me and hitted a16k malicious backstab and a 10k heartseeker within 1 second. Had no chance to react at all, ever so fun.But the point of this post, after all, is that if an old fart pvp-virgin like me can adapt wvw and get the GoB quite easily and even enjoying most of it, anyone else can do it and nobody should be afraid or anything of wvw. Give it a chance and you will most likely to enjoy it.
