Hey all. How bad is the precursor crafting?I wanna see if it’s be worth doing. I am trying to get dawn and have 300g.

So it would depend on if it’s easier to craft or just farm the like 270 to buy dawn.I’d love dusk but 700g on TP is just ridiculous and if I craft I’d prolly do dusk if it was easier than dawn to craft.But if it’s hard to do the crafting then I’ll save for dawn instead of needing like 400g for dusk

Well I know I’m gonna have to farm. I gave the gold amount I had for a pre so far so people could judge and give me my best option

It’ll cost you about 462G to craft dusk. About a third of that cost from iron ore.

It’ll cost you about 458G to craft Dawn.

Going based on value of time, you’re better off spending the time you would have spent doing the collections and farm Istan/SW so that you can put a buy order in for either precursor.

There are timegates with the second collections as they require ascended materials. Unless you’re willing to pay a premium on the TP.

In the way of time, working irl for money to buy dusk for the trading post may actually be faster.

IIRC those ask for items sold by laurel, somewhat time gated if you haven't been saving laurels. best thing to do is tell yourself that it won't be done in one day, take your time, enjoy collection.

Collections for them are fine, what really jingles my tingles is the fact that the experimental sword craft (unlocks the second collection) is hugely timegated behind 30 (or such) Deldrimor Steel Ingots. So in a sense, you will be much faster by farming gold and buying off the TP.

Gw2 efficiency is the site you need. It compares the cost of crafting to the cost of purchasing straight off the tp.

You already have most of the gold, so I'd suggest just farming Istan for the rest. Or swiping your credit card and converting gems to gold.

Crafting is the slowest and most tedious option, although you save some gold if you wanna go through the hassle.

Every time I think about Precursors I think about how incredibly dumb I was to sell the one I got from the Karka event in Southsun Cove. But then, back in November 2012, right after that event...Precursors could be bought/sold for under 100G for the most part...it was like, 6 months later, the prices began to climb.

The benefit of getting precursors through the achievements, is you don't need the whole cost upfront. You can chip away at the collections and intermediate crafting steps, rather than farm 700g and drop it all at once.

Are you talking about the scavenger hunts? They are the best part of generation 1 legendaries! :)
