Remember that what you need to do is open up two new maps. It only takes 75 people to open one new map, but that's only going to band-aid the problem. To get yourselves out of this mess you need to create TWO new maps. This is going to take 150 people: 75 to open and migrate to the new map, another 75 to go back to ip 204 and migrate again to another map. IP 204 should close after that.

It was done twice. 204 actually DOESN'T close. Needs a hard reset.

Nope. 204 gave way to 178, but there were not enough people to fill 204 a second time DURING that time. You need 150 people, not 75, or you'll be stuck in this loop. Opening another map, then coming back a day later and opening another map isnt gonna cut it. You need to open TWO more new maps at ONE time.

I reiterate that you couldn't have done this because there hasnt been nearly enough people in Istan to cross the 150 threshold yet.

Pretty sure a few comms in [farm] have tried this over the past 2 days... ask any of them. 204 refuses to close. Exact #s, not sure, but certainly way more than 75.

@blp.3489 said:Perhaps if we all open the Game Menu, select Support, and submit a bug report on this issue it will be more effective in getting ArenaNet's attention than posting in this thread? Is there a way to see open tickets?

I for one have sent a ticket in Thursday morning, guess what? No response yet. I know Tags and regulars who run this map have also sent in tickets. Nothing is more effective than using their official forums to post about game breaking bugs as it was intended. The problem is they just don't read/check their own forums as often as they should.

We get chairs but no way to get bugged maps fixed in a timely manner? Could a routine be set that would force all maps on all servers to reset at normal server reset? If a meta is running then it would stall the map closure till the end and then we could have clean, fresh, crisp maps that aren't bugged. Or am I missing something?

It's great that the bugged instance has finally been closed after over a week, but this has put on display an overarching issue that Anet needs to solve: default map instances are lasting much too long, making it potentially very painful when an event or event chain permanently stalls or hangs, especially when the event in question is required for storyline progression.

Default maps should be reset regularly, rather than staying up indefinitely. It seems reasonable to do so at daily reset time, because everyone could reasonably expect and plan around that deadline. There may be some minor benefits to very long-lasting instances, such as guild bonus banners staying up for very long times, but the cons are now clearly outweighing the pros. It could also be argued that daily default map resetting would be a bandage fix that would lessen pressure on Anet to fix the underlying event hanging bugs, but this 9-month-old bug has made it clear that event hanging bugs are falling through the cracks.
