LS2 and achievements

Hi there!

When I knock off in about three hours, I'll be finishing up on LS2. And while I enjoyed the story, I have to say that actually playing LS2 has been one of the worst gaming experiences in my life. The first few eps were, well, lt's call them okay, and I've completed the achievements on the first three.

Now, I don't know exactly when, but sometime around the middle the fights became nothing less than completely and utterly annoying. It wasn't a Challenge, it was a chore. And I swore to myself I would never again put myself through that garbage again unless absolutely necessary.

Sadly, I can only afford to skip one of the masteries. So I'd like some opinions on which LS2 episode has the most nerve wracking chievos, so I can skip that one, at least for the time being.

If you are doing those achievements for mastery points, there is more then enough ways to get them in Tyria. Bosses, fractals etc. Open the 'General' and 'Fractals' and see yourself. I didn't even do world competition and karka hunt to cover all Tyria masteries let alone those LS2 achievements.TT and Teq achives took bit time but it was nothing like LS2. Silverwaste legendaries might take bit time but you get the loot while waiting on them running RIBA.I had more fun running trough Drydock Scratch then doing any episode of LS2. Etc, etc

What phs.6089 said, don't force yourself through tedious content when there is alternatives.

That said, don't know, I loved Living World Season 2. Might have been due to the tie in with GW1 lore but I loved the story, the setup for Hot and the achievement hunting.

Then again I had returned from a lengthy break to the game and might have been im a good mood overall. I guess different type of content is appealing to different players.

This. I have exactly none of the mastery achievements in LS2 complete(1), just the mastery points for finishing the episodes, and exactly no mastery points from Fractals either. (That means that I don't have Koutalophile because it requires a fractal-only object.) But I've earned enough Central Tyria mastery points to finish all of the CT mastery tracks.

(1) In fact, I've finished only two mastery achievements in the whole story journal: HoT: Act 1 and HoT: Act 3.

Cross-check the fractal achievements that give mastery points with the day's daily fractals, then put up a t1 fractal lfg for one of the dailies and mention the achievement in the lfg message. That way people have a couple different motivations to join (t1 dailies, chance to help, and/or get their own achievements). You shouldn't have much of a problem to get your lfg filled and most likely get at least one or two people that know how to do the fractal/the achievement to join.

Very good, thx. I actually went for WBs yesterday, had Karka Queen, Tequatl and TT with Amber Head within just over two hours and shockingly had a hell of a lot of fun doing so :)

I'm still gonna give fractals a go while I'm at it to fill up those masteries, too.

I find most LS stuff not so fun to do alone, but a lot of fun to do with friends or guildies. Maybe because I'm social. It speeds up the process, and gives me someone to talk with, particularly if I'm repeating a chapter for achievements and don't want to pay attention to the dialogue.

I enjoy LS Season 2, but I prefer Seasons 3 and 4. But soloing those chapters, particularly for achievements is just making your life hard for nothing.

The 8th is doable after you make some practice and know how to move, but it could take a lot of attempts (and iirc, you cannot simply come back to the character selection screen and restart; you must finish the fight before being able to restart it again). The first 6 are much easier, especially if you bring a friend with you.

Unfortunately I think every episode has at least one achievement like that, but some of them can be made much easier by bringing a particular profession and build.

For example, I found the Strength Without Sacrifice achievement trivially easy with longbow Ranger, because the Facet of Strength targeted my pet rather than me. No Shocks Here is easiest with a long-ranged character (longbow Ranger or mortar Engineer) because you can just stand on the tower and shoot the golem from a safe distance. If I recall correctly, Don't Knock Yourself Out is easiest with a greatsword Mesmer because if you cast Mirror Blade on a Spectral Flame, it will explode on the clone rather than you.

So my advice is that whenever one of the achievements seems hard, try to figure out what profession and build will make it easiest. By a similar token, the Seeds Of Truth achievements are probably the hardest partly because you can't do that - you have to play as Caithe.

Good luck! I hope you manage to find some enjoyment in it!

If you post that you're looking for help completing fractals for the mastery points, there are a number of folks that will assist. You can try posting in LFG for T1 fractals, the "Players Helping" forum folder, or the LF Guild forum folder.

A lot of the fractal chieves allow you to leech entirely. (And most aren't all that difficult.)

Good luck and please update the thread with your progress (good, bad, or ugly).
