It's still higher today than it was yesterday...And yes, they do follow a pattern which is exactly why it's so easy to prevent it from happening.

Paying 4.88 gold for one sigil is not out of reach when players make 2G a day by simply doing their dailies.

Prices tend to temporarily spike when new content is released. Prices always come back down. Maybe not to what they were before but definitely far from the spike price. If you want it now then you’ll pay a premium otherwise patience will pay off and you’ll get it cheaper at a later point in the future.

It's stupid that the collection have us being held hostage by people rich enough to buy the entire supply on the TP.Might as well get rid of the collection idea and just have the armor drop randomly and sold on the TP. What's the point of the collection if we have to rely on RNG or the TP anyway?

It's a mistake to think that the TP has all, most, or even the majority of the supply of anything, especially sigils, most of which sit around doing nothing for the vast majority of the game. If you don't want to pay 4 gold each, don't. The price is going to go down.

Novelty price spikes are temporary. We've seen this time & time again. All that speculators can do is temporarily drain the supply; they can't control the amount entering the economy because there are too many sources, many that aren't acknowledged in this thread and many that are bigger sources than people think.

Literally all it takes to refresh last week's supply is a few hundred people who hoard a few hundred sigils, not even including speculators who probably have full banks of sigils just waiting for an opportunity. The hidden supply is fine. What's changed is people are in a rush and are able to perceive there to be a shortage, whether it's real or not.


For example, Superior Rune of Scavenging. Four are needed for a collection.https://www.gw2tp.com/item/24738-superior-rune-of-scavenging?full=1

It's vendor price in July 2014 and then spikes to 2g in September (when the collection was added). 4 months after, it was back to vendor price at about the same supply and the supply has been growing since. Like the sigil, there's no explicit source for this, no recipe; it drops from a handful of armors and randomly from forging runes.

So 97.6 gold or an average of 16.27 gold per piece for a unique skin that has an aura. There’s also absolutely no rush to get them as no content is locked behind completing the collection.

The logic goes even more the other way. Why would you ever combat a temporary spike in demand with a permanent increase in supply? Especially when there actually already is a way (though random) to get some - MF Major sigils.

History shows that the price will come back down to a stable level within a completely reasonable time frame. Along the way, the drastically inflated prices will have removed a (admittedly small, but not insignificant) amount of gold from the system.

Atm 1 sigil is at 6g 76s and only 1300 left on the TP and that's even before the weekend spike.

20x 6g 76 = 135g only for sigils atm, this will spike even higher

The influx of new sigils is so low that the TP will dry out in no time.

Let's be honest, this skin is a ripoff and it's sad that anet was so incompetent to not see this coming.

Given that it's already dropped from 10.6g, I think we'll mostly see a downward trend now. Some increases during the weekend, but I think peak has passed.

We are talking about a skin without any stats that has plenty of other tasks to do besides the costs.I don't know how it would be a handout when it is not tied to a horrendous price tag.

And that skin is a reward. When I said handout, I was referring to low cost.

Dungoneer chest is 5g reward per 8 runs + some random coin, bringing this into perspective we are at 135/5=27 27*8= 216 So its around 200 runs for the current price. Ohhh lol i don't even want to see the outcry if people would have to run 200 dungeons. =)

big deal if the price is high for a few days. throw yellow sigils in the forge if you are in a hurry and cheap

Ehhh to be fair to him, not every player has that much gold sitting around for one item needed for a collection of which also needs other expensive items, and honestly i have to agree, collections shouldnt include items that dont have a way to obtain them at a decent rate, which these sigils really dont.

Just glad im waiting for awhile before i go after them.

I dont even understand why 5 of them are needed for each step instead of just one and then switch to another sigil/ingredient. Its like anet was following the blueprint for creating this type of issue to begin with. Collections should be locked behind in game activities such as killing certain bosses/acquiring map currency, and not behind some arbitrary TP bought item which price can be easily manipulated by anyone willing to gouge others for profit.
