I think what happened is that Tonn rushed to the tower during the fight and blowup the tower while there are still monsters around and sometimes it causes the monsters to borrow under the tower. Invisible, unreachable to the players. But Tonn knows there are still monsters to be cleared so he is jist standing there at the tower 2. Hence the mission is stuck.

Made an ingame bug report of this like a year ago and, based on this thread, I'm sure I wasn't the firstTried doing the story again today, but the same problem remains, still stuck.I have the exact same problem as the previous poster:

@Omnistride.4286 said:Still broke. However mine gets stuck at the second tower and refuses to move. I've cleared everything in the instance twice so far, I've made four attempts.

He just stands there even though every other NPC is waiting for the next tower to be destroyed. This is getting very frustrating.

I reattempted it while saving the krait for last but I guess I did something wrong or it might just be random.I figure if I keep repeating it will work eventually (since i've cleared the entire personal story on 3 other characters) but this particular mission is incredibly tedious so I'd rather not.

No hate on Anet but I feel like it's time to do something about this. Either fix the problem or, if I had a say in it, remove the mission entirely.> @Omnistride.4286 said:

I've tried this mission twice (without any special tactics), and have found this mission to be bugged.

After destroying the 2nd tower, Tonn kind of just stands there and admire's the scenery. He won't move to the third tower. The other Pact NPC's will move with me through the cave to the Sylvari Camp, however.

EDIT: I managed to complete the story instance. This time, before collecting Tonn and his team, I braved the caves and killed everything on the beaches.

I found a fix and was able to complete the mission. When starting the instance, do not talk to Tonn. Kill ALL of the monsters on the map. On the third tower, there are 2 Risen Kraits on land and 2 Risen Kraits that will come out of the water. I then talk to Tonn. I noticed on the second tower that when Tonn placed his bomb, there was a Risen monster inside the second tower that wasn't there before. I killed it as quickly as possible before the bomb blew up and it worked.

I can Confirm that as of 27th May 2019 this bug is still not fixed. I have attempted this instance 3 times now. He simply wont move after blowing up the second tower.

A shameful display that this recorded bug is still here after all this time. In a story instance no less.

Yes, this is still bugged after all these years...

What worked for me, as suggested by people in this thread, was to run ahead and kill everything before speaking to Tonn. I left the Kraits when they spawned at the third tower and after speaking to Tonn and starting the quest we hugged the mountain wall when we got there and Tonn went ahead and blew the tower. I also made sure to stick with the group when I went between the towers. The spiders had respawned and that pack animal acted a bit weird both this time and the previous bugged one, running far back in to the cave after each fight, so I made sure he caught up before moving on

Stuck. The Ox followed me, but realized Tonn was still on the last beach when I got to the final tower. Very frustrating. How they can leave a bug in this long is beyond me.

Edit: Did as the post above me suggested and cleared out all mobs before starting the escort. Worked for me.

I was stuck on this quest too. I was able to defeat it, quite quickly in fact, by just collecting Tonn at the beginning, running straight to the first and second tower. He would teleport to me and blow up the tower each time. Then jump in the water and swim to the third tower, he teleports again and blows it up. Finally, without going up the hill, the "clear the beach" objective starts and you can kill the few Krait and the 1 enemy on the ramp up the hill. You can ignore the big guys entirely, quest done, took less than 5 minutes like this.

Yeah... Thanks for this topic to exist =)Still bugged, Demolishionist NPC conditionally stuck. Bad experience for me as a new player, but it's okay, never seen a game w/o bugs.

But I've been able to complete the quest. What I could advice - don't run further keeping NPCs behind you. Just follow the Marmox quitely. And that's should be fine.

At the third tower do not dive into battle, try to stay close to Marmox as much as possible, NPCs could carry the monsters on their own. Then after monsters killed, quitely walk to the tower so Demolishionist would be able to plant it. Always watch where the demolishionist is, he should follow you closely. After tower is gone, try to stay near the Demolishionist and Marmox. It is okay they stay at different position, just don't run away while fighting spawning risen. Risen will come to you and your party.

So, the only one advice: don't be hurry and it should be fine.

I'm still having the issue where Tonn gets stuck after blowing up the second tower. I've tried a mixture of everything. I try not killing everything, killing everything, running ahead, staying behind, sticking with the group and none of it has worked consistently. This is across multiple characters with different strategies used on all of them.

@Jeffrey Vaughn.1793 said:

Just to be clear: Tonn is following the player, not the rest of the team. He won't go anywhere without the player leading the way.

Yeah that's how it should be, however, the problem is that after the second tower goes down he just sits there not following me, no matter how far ahead I go, whether I aggro something to him, whether I interact with him. None of it changes anything.

Exact same experience here as well.

Not sure how much of what I did the second time is important, but it worked so here's what I did for those who might see this later.

  1. I didn't talk to Tonn at the beginning and instead ran through the whole map killing enemies everything (except for two enemies)
  2. I ran counter clock-wise through the map (tower 3 then 2 then 1 in the order that you visit them "normally"). I swam from tower 3 to tower 2.
  3. The two enemies I didn't kill were the two krait that are in the water behind tower 3 as you approach it. They're just far enough out that you may not even notice them at first.
  4. At tower 1 I made sure to kill the small enemy "inside" the tower's base. You may not notice him until you get really close to the tower and then you can AOE to aggro him out.
  5. I then ran back to Tonn and did the escort normally; I tried not to get too far ahead of the group (might not matter). There are a few "new" enemies that pop back up during the escort, I just killed them as I came to them.
  6. When I got back to tower 3, the two krait who were behind the tower in the water before were now up on land. I killed them quickly before Tonn could bomb the tower.
  7. After the tower went down the "clear the beach" portion began almost instantly and I had no problems from then on.

Good luck!

I have just encountered the bug. Surprised by the number of comments here confirming the existence of the bug and a staff member to pop in claiming they cannot reproduce it. Also, I fully agree with one of the replies here saying that they don't feel like playing this instance over and over just to get around a bug. It's disappointing. I have it on video as well, if a dev is interested.

As per the solution, which happened during my second attempt. Originally, I did notice Tonn staying idle after the second tower, and I wondered if this is normal, but since it was the very first time I was playing this instance, I ignored it. When I realized that he was needed for the third tower, I went on Google to search and came across this thread. The solution I approached, thanks to the guidance from everyone in here: When I entered the instance, I talked to Tonn so that I get him to follow me. Then, I ran to the cave and did not actively engage in combat, just running. I approached the first tower, drawing the attention of the monsters to me, while Tonn was planting the bomb. I kept circling around whilst the monsters followed. Once the first demolition happened, I moved towards the second tower - same tactic. Then, I swam towards the third and Tonn followed. Bear in mind that during all these tower rushes, I killed nothing. After all, once the third tower is destroyed, a new sub-quest will ask you to eliminate the undead monsters at the beach (i.e. the beach surrounding the third tower). Once done, you can talk to Tony (you are asked to, anyway) and decide what you want to do.

Still baffled by the developers on this one though. So many comments reporting this, but somehow they are unable to reproduce it. Well, ask the exact steps the players take - either they follow the quest's guidelines, indicating an inherent bug with the current system, or they try their own way, which appears to apply to many people - otherwise the bug wouldn't be so commonly reported -, thereby indicating a game-design/usability issue. Regardless of the case, fix it, so we all get over it.

This is STILL BUGGED!

Five consecutive attempts and nothing helps.

Tonn just stands stupid next to the second tower after it gets blown to pieces and no amount of trying to talk or resolve the situation works.

The Marmox and the rest of the group do follow to the third tower but Tonn just continues to stand stupid next to the second one.

You need to provide a REAL fix to the bug not some wiki hocus pocus that still relies on trial and error.

The worst thing is this is an issue that has been around since release and it completely blocks story progression.

Still bugged, but the fix is pretty simple. Some others have mentioned it before me. I managed to complete it on my second try. On the second tower you just need to make sure all the enemies around the tower are killed before Tonn places the bomb so none of them get stuck beneath it and cause him to get stuck waiting for them to be killed. Range attacks are your best bet for this. There are a couple around the back of the tower you'll need to draw out. Do the same at the third tower - kill all the krait etc, and you should be good to go.

OK it seems pure rage and frustration works with this game. Just run past everything and get to the towers... do it for each one and he magically appears there and does his stuff. Oh, and of course skip the speech sequence unless you want to waste all that time again with a disconnect!

Edit: I have toned down my post somewhat because I have cooled down a bit. This is making personal story missions an unpleasant experience. It means we are just expecting something to go wrong all the time - usually a disconnect. Every time I see that little camera icon anywhere above character's heads, my mind says: "ITS BROKEN!" I have seen it so often now that it just indicates in my mind "mission fail - restart!"
