ThomAss.1890
I was thinking to myself one day, "Is it possible to get to level 80 by killing nothing but minotaurs in the starting human tutorial", so today I decided to find out, I did the math and found out that I would need to kill about 2,430,180 minotaurs to reach level 80 since i only get 2 xp a kill, I thought I should post this so at least it feels like i'm not doing it for nothing, wish me luck in this madness

Blocki.4931
You can use Tomes of Knowledge in there too. Just saying if you want to skip to 79 to make it still "official" ;)

Swing.6439
So, I did this with tomes of knowledge and the free banker golem you get for your character if they're a new alt. It was like a year ago and I don't know if anything has changed since then, but you'll remain tethered to level 0 even if you hit 80, kind of like the scaling system in open world exploration. Which means you'll never do less/more damage, and things will not die quickly. You might get a minor boost from higher level weapons, but I had full legendary ones and the increase was dismal.But...if you want to do it for fun, nobody is stopping you. ThomAss.1890
with this, one of the curiosities i had was wondering how long something like this would take, and tbh I don't even have the tomes to fully level a character to 80 anyway. Gop.8713
Far be it from me to ruin someone's attempt to waste huge amounts of time frivolously bc I can totally relate, but I think this has been done before, maybe on the old forums? Idk, maybe try a vid search or something? Or perhaps don't, if you'd rather. Glhf either way :)
ThomAss.1890
i did do a quick internet search, and didnt find anything on it, but if one of you find a post or vid of something like this do feel free to post it here

Yannir.4132
There's 1 issue with this attempt. There are no Minotaurs in the human starting tutorial.Norn tutorial has Minotaurs though. Human tutorial has Centaurs.
Danikat.8537
There was a guy who tried this a few years ago - the character name was Legendary Defender of Shaemoor and last time I ran into him he had gotten to level 60. He made it a bit easier by playing an engineer so once he levelled up enough he could place turrets and let them kill some centaurs while he fought others. It would still take absolutely ages though. Steve The Cynic.3217
This thread made me think of the person who got a character to level 7 in the noob instance at the beginning of Nightfall.https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Talk:Island_of_ShehkahGuild Wars 1's mechanics prevent you getting any higher level than that in there. Didn't remember that, but I mostly used the Factions and Pre-searing tutorials anyways, and have hit level 20 (max) in both of them). Used to find the Factions tutorial area the easiest way to get the title for reaching level 20 without dying :) And Pre-Searing for life!
Danikat.8537
I never thought to try it in Factions and Nightfall. I'd do as much as I reasonably could - go through all the tutorial quests and kill all the enemies, but I didn't grind it. I did do Legendary Defender of Ascalon - getting to level 20 (level cap) in the Prophecies tutorial zone - twice (once on each account) but that was different because the tutorial area was so huge and there was more of a variety of quests and enemies.Although even then through most of the game's life you could get to about level 12 and then you had to use 'death levelling' to progress, which as far as I know is a trick unique to GW1. For some reason enemies got XP in that game, so you could level them up by letting them kill you over and over and then killing them. But it took a very long time because they needed to kill you dozens of times to level up, and then once you'd killed the one group you had to start over.I was happy when they bought in the higher level daily quests as an alternative. Tommo Chocolate.5870
Can you use food and boosters in the tutorial? If so, that could speed things along a bit, providing you don't consider it "cheating".@Danikat.8537 said:Although even then through most of the game's life you could get to about level 12 and then you had to use 'death levelling' to progress, which as far as I know is a trick unique to GW1. That just like they use the same system of skills and attributes as PCs they have the same level system, just no one expected them to ever actually gain experience! I don't remember the exact build, but it involved applying lots of conditions using a bow, and also having a pet that could attack the Wurms while they were underground.
