ive always thought this was a really bad skill. its basically an earthshaker that chills on a really long cd. the boons are scourge/reaper/thief food. it has a long obvious cast time that is negated by fb stab. the damage sucks for its cd. so why does anyone use this?

Because it is AoE stun that sets up RS burst and also the only reliable way of reaper getting Stability. And all core elites suck

It's the best elite for spvp or wvw on any necro spec. Plaguelands is better in pve.

For Pve flesh golem is better and more comparable, given they are both essentially heavy CC skills.

When you know you need the stability it provides you use to to avoid getting locked down by cc.
Or you can set up a burst with it.Or you can force people to force dodge out of people by canceling it with a weapon stow

Overall its good for helping break defiance bars but not better than golem on big body bosses as the golem will hit several times as it runs through.

yeah that's a good point I forgot about that.overall tho in teamfights with a necro on the other team this skill is a huge liability.
