alchemist.6851
Given it’s price and gold-gem exchange rate, is it just cheaper to buy a new Rune off TP instead of extracting most but a couple of them like concentration? E.g spell breaker could be worth just spending another 10g+
Astralporing.1957
Who knows how the price of runes is going to change in the future, after the 6+ years supply of them on TP dries up. Still, for the most part you're right - for a huge majority of upgrades buying an extractor in order to get them out of gear would result in a loss. Illconceived Was Na.9781
Bulk price for upgrade extractors is 25 for 1500 gems or 60 gems each. That's about 18-19 gold per extractor at today's exchange rate (gold-to-gems). Over the last year, 60 gems has been worth anywhere from 15 gold to 25 gold depending on when you exchange. Thus there's no point on spending on extractors for any except the tiny few runes|sigils that were 20g+ before the update and remain that high (at least for now). The calculus does change a bit in the case that you have gems (perhaps via a gift card) and want to decide whether to convert to gold or buy extractors. Today, that puts the cutoff around 12g if you're buying 25 extractors and 15g still if you want just one. So the conclusion is the same: for most of us, it's going to be cheaper to buy the rune|sigil on the TP or make our own than to use an extractor. Two alternatives:Wait. Prices are still in turmoil. It's hard to predict where the markets are going to end up.Consider buying an exotic off the TP with the relevant upgrade and using a BL Salvage Kit to extract. In some cases, the cost is roughly the same, but you have a chance to get ecto, which slightly lowers the net cost. (Problem is: you compete with people who have the infinite-use extractor.)
