Zombiegamer.4356
What professions are you all having fun playing? Is the Necromancer fun? I have been thinking of starting a new character and just looking at different professions. I have played the engineer and thief professions. Sephylon.4938
Best in terms of what? Necro is good in pvp/wvw if you have a pocket support otherwise its a sitting duck and a free loot bag for anyone fortunate enough to run into a solo necro, but when supported it becomes a nightmare to deal with. Pve, its highly survivable for solo play due to minions taking all the agro from you, but its bottom tier for group content due to other classes doing everything it does better. Mouse.7382
Depends on content. Necro was my 1st and still favorite class. Been playing it since the beginning. It however, finds itself too much on the bottom end, being wanted for raids--is about it. And if your not into raiding, don't worry about it.Ranger is fun--but only too a point. He was my 2nd world completion toon and 1st toon I raided with. But healing got old quick--its not as engaging as it is in other games (due to Holy Trinity here being pseudo-Trinity).Mesmer is fun and what I've been currently been playing as of late. Its my 3rd completionist toon and am currently focusing on 'Fashion-wars' with this class. The ONLY class I don't find every enjoyable no matter how many times I've tried to create (either PvE or PvP) is a Warrior/Rev. tinyasian.8941
Same here, I have been looking for new professions. Now I'm considering ranger or Revenant, any suggestions? I mainly play Open World casually. Not into high level content. Do play Fractals one in a while, low tier though, considering to farm to higher tier. And I want to be able to tag a lot of mobs. Every race and profession will give you a different story with a different perspective on the world. It will make you love the game more and make you a better player in the long run, because you will be familiar with all the lore and all the aspects of all professions. In any case, don't rush the game-play too much, I would say enjoy the story, enjoy the scenery and just think of it as your just making your own movie. (P.S. my main is my warrior, but I also love all the others, oh and besides the story unranked SPvP is also a great way to check out the different professions and honing your skills.) You can maintain permanent boons without needing any skills or it being a hassle because you just need to activate the facets and they will maintain the boons. I like playing sword/sword or sword/axe, but you can try your own combinations and see what works best for you. I would recommend going full power for Harald instead of condition based build/gear.In any case hope this helps you out a bit. Have fun playing Revenant :)

I just found that a lot of the abilities were just too 'boring' for my taste. Not flashy enough if that makes sense, I have 'shiney-key syndrome' when it comes to character skills, lol. Rev to me, was just like playing a thief's initiative--never cared for monitoring that, instead of cooldowns.
Noha.3749
Ill list my experience as short as possible: Warrior: You are tanky, you hit hard and feel like Guts from the Berserk manga/anime (no im not a weeb). Everyone wants a warrior in their party/squad but never for the damage alone. Learn to love or hate Banners, Banners, Bubbles, Banners, Bubbles. Bubbles and banners. Guardian: still learning, my last profession i need experience with. kinda struggling to find a good build for WvW roaming, annoying to make Valkyrie stuff for a heavy profession to be able to roam :skull: Revenant: 33%Thief/33%Warrior/33%Guardian. Fancy animations, quick engage, decent disengage. Decent AoE damage (good with hammer in WvW zergs).Hard burst, average defense (very costy defense!!) Powerbuilds for PvP/WvW, Condibuilds for PvE. You are not wanted that much outside of WvW zergs with hammer. Ranger: Legolas stereotype. Mostly wanted as healer in PvE but can do deeps without complaints (unless drood is needed). Its the same good ol´ranger from any mmo out there.Thief: You got unmatched mobility and stealth. Best/easiest dps in PvE (with the only exception of Weaver elem. being higher vs BIG hitboxes). No one wants you in a WvW group, you are a solo / skirmish profession. You can deal ridic damage but you die to a fart. Engineer: alot of micromanaging with your skills if you play anything except holosmith. You used to break your fingers and do amazing while doing it. Now with holo you have way less to worry about and get more out of it than ever. Holosmith basically turns you into super-sayan for a few seconds. You are wanted in PvE, PvP and sometimes in WVW. Elementalist: Highest damage possible ingame if its against a Big target, highest possible damage in WvW Zergs with staff, can build bruiser and sustain forever but deals low damage (they sacrifice alot to be bruisers). People say they are that hard but really their abilities kinda "flow-into" eachother very well. Way less clunky than an engineer with kits but still might seem overwhelming to get into without any experience. IDK where elementalists are wanted outside of WvW Zergs or BIG bosses in raids. Mesmer: Wanted everywhere, thats it. Probably the "best profession" ingame due to its multitude of work it can do in alot of areas. Not sure where support Chrono stands after reworked runes/sigils now though. Necromancer: God of AoE control with scourge (boonrip, shields, DAMAGE (alot!), CC) wanted in Fractals, WvW zergs and a few bosses in raids and PvP. Reapers on the other hand is a brutal melee bruiser that is "kinda" a wildcard. You deal crazy AoE damage but you lack any form of stability or defense outside of your 2 dodges. Not wanted outside of PvP though.
Gulbasaur.1865
I've really enjoyed mirage mesmer. It's like someone turned the core mesmer mechanics up to eleven. I've played chrono a few times (not in raids, I'm a filthy casual) and I really like what it brings to a team and all of the mechanics around circumventing cooldowns, but (condi) mirage is just more fun and feels safer both in the "they can't kill you" sense and the "because you killed them first" sense in PvE. Getting used to not being able to really dodge is a bit of a tricky one, though. It feels chaotic and fast-paced. Core ranger was a bit of an indifferent experience, but I really enjoy longbow/staff druid. I actually like the support aspect of it; it's nice being able to carry a slightly ropey fractal group through things they'd normally not survive. Soulbeast is my PvP baby at the moment because I like being able to hide round corners with traps then set fire to them and shoot them full of poisoned arrows.
