Hero points and the expansion level 80 boost, how does it work?

I noticed after using the level 80 boost, i still have the same amount of hero points available as i had before boosting. But everything is maxed out now, with exeptions the expansion pack new weapons and traits.Does this mean, if i didnt use any hero points, i would still get everything maxed out and can easier get the expansion pack weapons unlocked?

No.

Regardless of how you reach L80, you'll have the same number of HP to spend, allowing you to max all the core specializations. We still have to do skill challenges in the open world to work on the elite specializations for HoT or PoF.

Getting from level 1 to 80 awards you exactly enough hero points to unlock all the core skills and specialisations. Then you need hero points from challenges in the world (or the Heroics Notary in WvW) to unlock the elite specialisations.

But all hero points are the same so you can get and use them in any order - if you complete hero challenges before level 80 you can use the points on core skills and specs and then use the ones you get from levelling up after level 80 to unlock elite specs.

Most likely you'd done some hero challenges on the character before using the boost and happened to have the same number of unused points as you'd gotten from those challenges.

The level to 80 hero points are exactly enough to get everything for your chore class. Each additional elite specialization requires 250 further hero points. No matter how you reach level 80, you will always have 398 hp + (any gained from hero challenges you have completed) once 80.
