Selling a Legendary Weapon

Recommended Posts

Legendary weapons (generation one, includes Kudzu), when first crafted in the forge comes with no bindings. This means they can be sold on the Trading Post. Once you buy/craft it and then equip it on one of your characters, they become account bound and can no longer be sold.

If you want Pharus instead, I suggest you hurry finishing Kudzu as the demand is likely to drop now that we have another longbow legendary option, and prices are bound to fall. To sell it quick for a sizeable profit put it up for highest offer+listing cost before the price starts dropping below that.

Bear in mind that the listing fee for the legendary will probably be over 100g.

For that reason I recommend thinking carefully about a price and then sticking with it. Pick what you think is a sensible price for it and then leave it at that price, don't be tempted to keep removing and relisting it every time you've been out bid or you notice new offers/sales. Otherwise you can very quickly waste a lot of gold relisting it and end up not actually making much of a profit.

This is incorrect. The collections only creates the
precursor
(in this case: Leaf of Kudzu). The crafted gen1 precursors are
also
unbound so can be sold.

Yep. All Gen 1 precursors are identical, no matter how they're obtained and the process to make the legendary is the same regardless of whether you do the precursor collection or get one as a drop/buy it, so the finished legendary is the same no matter where you got the precursor from.

However all Gen 1 precursors are soulbound on use and all Gen 1 legendaries are account bound on use, so if you want to sell it you cannot equip it, unlock the skin or add a sigil/infusion. All of those will bind it to your account. (You can however bind a precusor and then use it to make a legendary for sale, because the two are seperate - the forge spits out an unbound legendary no matter what.)

The savings is over 200g.

Those are only for gen 2 precursors, the ones introduced after HoT. Gen 1 precursors are made differently so there's no shards involved.

But it sounds like he intends to make a Gen 2 Precursor (Pharus) so it's still good advice.

Not really. If you're buying a legendary on tp, then you do so because you have no time or will to go through with crafting, but you do have gold to blow. In such a case Kudzu's position stays uchallenged, since gen 2 leges can't be sold. Even crafters for most part will choose kudzu because it's cheaper.Skin matters little because you can always reskin. Only ones to craft Pharus are those who really want its skin. If a person prefers literally any other out of tons of bow skins, they'll go Kudzu and keep it/reskin in.

Shining Blade's been here for ages now, yet you don't see Bolts becoming dirt cheap or not getting sold at all.
