@Ben Phongluangtham.1065 said:We certainly welcome any ideas for future WvW events!

Here are some guidelines we've been using in our brainstorming.

Change the way WvW is played in some way. Doesn't have to be a big change, but should be a change.

Using events as test beds for permanent changes can be nice, but isn't necessary. There are many things we probably would be willing to do for the length of a matchup, but wouldn't want it to be forever.

Events shouldn't require large art changes. We want to be able to implement these events quickly and not rely on getting a lot of art that may never be used again.

Events shouldn't exclude large sections of the player base. No restricting events to specific classes, expansions, etc.

Looking forward to hearing more ideas!

Keep in mind that the suggestion in OP is well within the guidelines - it doesnt restrict to specific classes (all allowed) nor does it restrict to expansions (everyone has vanilla). Blocking the selection of elites specs should be fairly trivial and doesnt require any art changes.

@Blockhead Magee.3092 said:I don't see Anet ever removing skills in a game mode like that. I think it would cause a vast amount of frustration for most players and frustrating players is not something they want to intentionally do.Uhm... That's what they did with downed state week. All downed state skills completely removed, all other skills relying on downed and there are alot in the game (like say... the entire kitten point of the scrapper function gyro class ability).

So basicly, Anet broke their own guidelines with downed state week.

Your point is moot.

"etc" (etcetera- "used at the end of a list to indicate that further, similar items are included.)... so the "etc" includes "elite specs" as well. Just sayin'

I like playing DE even if my build is closer to core and I like fighting some other elite builds. I'd probably just not log on during that event, but then I might consider that if they're thinking of other disruptive events instead of just fun events I might just move on.

No it isn't, it is ambiguous.

Restricting an event to a specific expansion obviously excludes people who don't have the expansion, restricting it to specific classes excludes people who don't have those classes, but restricting it to core does not exclude anyone.

So it entirely depends exactly what they are really bothered about is just that everyone should have a character to play in an event (in which case restricting it to core fits fine with those statements) or are they bothered that everyone should have a full choice of every elite because they think poor little dears will go into meltdown if they can't play whatever they wish for one week.

Hence it is ambiguous.
