Richard Marcinko.5132
ANET, please, please, PLEASE. Give us something that looks like the exemplar outfit only in a armor skin. Give me some pants, is that too much to ask?
Samnang.1879
just a guess, but it might be related to the fantasy genre and the idea that soldiers that use "magic" wear robes and gowns stemming from priests and priestesses, witches and wizards. while heavy armor is related to warriors and knights in battles and cavaliers.and i guess medium stems from things like assassins and ninjas, where they dont wear robes or heavy armorshope this answer helps
Danikat.8537
Light armour is somewhere between normal clothing (normal for a high fantasy setting) and wizard robes, and either way that means skirts, especially on female characters. But there are some alternatives. Elegy Armour is your best bet, or Requiem for a slightly fancier (but more expensive) version of the same thing. There's also Embroidered for baggy trousers, Student which can look like either a short skirt over tights or a long top over leggings depending on the top you choose to go with it or Ascalonian Performer if you don't mind the slightly weird shorts over trousers look. (Which if I remember correctly was an actual real-life fashion for a while.)You can use the wardrobe tab at the bank to preview all the available armour skins (and weapons) to find something which works for you.Or of course you could use an outfit if you want something completely different. IndigoSundown.5419
Over the years, there have been a lot of requests for light armor pants, especially for female characters. Even if every light armor legging going forward for the next 5 years were true pants, there would still be more skirts/robes/drapes than pants. Every once in a while ANet designers toss a nod in that general direction, though the "pants design" is usually contaminated by things like butt capes. It's not that there is too little demand for pants. There has been plenty. ANet seems reluctant to meet that demand. Too bad.
AlexxxDelta.1806
Robes/ frilly dresses have been a staple in the depiction of magic wielders in RPGs so it makes sense to stick with the archetype. Although it's true that adding a few more skin-tight outfits/armors for light would add some variety. For example, I'd like to see something similar to the outfits the two witches from the Witcher 3 are wearing.
Dahkeus.8243
Because light armor in almost every fantasy game is largely designed in the image of wizard robes?
Linken.6345
Ascalon light armor got pants, the living world season 4 episode 4 you can craft a pair aswell.Aint the corsair skin pants aswell?
Setz.9675
Lets be realistic here and just admit that there arent many options to pick from if a player doesnt like skirts/buttcape/trenchcoat.If your defense is going to be it needs to fit an archetype of sorts, why not create a new one?Light: add runes or embroidery patterns to armors, that fits magic just fine.Medium: Pockets, knives and gizmo's/tools fit a medium armor theme like no other.Heavy: Chainmail and cover it with cloth or whatever makes your boat float.plenty can be done but isn't and that is a bummer because fashion is the endgame and the options are limited. Maybe some day we'll have some less extremist fashion.

Chasind.3128
The same reason why every medium has a buttcape/ coat or heavy has oversized pauldrons.Same reason most hairstyles & faces are outdated & chair skins & mount skins are always updated.Bc anet only cares about profit from the masses & not what you as an individual like. If the masses wanted less robes or actually cared to protest it etc, you'd see more pants for light armor.
Dragon Priestess.9760
I like my skirts and dresses. But if they added heavier armour designs, it wouldn't bother me.I'm still waiting for a set of proper mage robes, though.
Grim West.3194
Light armor in GW2 sucks. So do all the medium trench coats. Heavy is the only armor that looks good in GW2.

PlagueParade.7942
Why does every medium armor have to look like a trench coat? They just need to start adding more buttcapes to the mix of all weight class armor. I would Like a Guild Logo buttcape next please!
Zalani.9827
I think my favorite light piece is the Corsair pants, it’s just so baggy it’s great.
