Path to Ascension 20 min wait [suggestion]

To preface this, i don't have a problem with Augury Rock's Path to Ascension meta 's impact on the casino event timer, nor do i have a problem with the events themselves or it's start time.

I like the Ascension meta, enjoyed AP hunting in it, currently meta goes like this:xx:30 escort kaidenna to the veteran forgotten -> wait for kaidenna to run to second camp PoI (maybe clear camp), escort her to augury rock -> kill josso -> WAIT 20 MINUTES (opportunity to fill in scrolls) -> TWO events occur simultaneously, the first being the doppelganger pre which gives you the choice chest for the map once you complete it and kill the doppelganger, the only source of an elon choice chest. The second is following the pilgrimmage(?) to pelentia's throne.

Target of suggestion/reasons I believe this meta needs a change:Currently the only way to fill that 20 minute wait is to AFK, to go another map and do something else (risks you not being to get on the original map whether in meta week or not, even a HP or Bounty train can fill the ip you did it on - and oh you did all the pre-events too? too bad.), or find something to do in Elon Riverlands. I think putting in a twenty minute wait is seriously awful, a smaller wait I can deal with, but 20 mins?!Additionally, with the doppelganger event being MUCH more rewarding than following the ghosts to the throne of pelentia, now a player who wishes to follow those ghosts must decide to either go through the meta twice in one day, or forfeit their daily choice chest if they do not have enough time or will to go through the meta twice.

Something to do in elon.... i could gather forgotten lights! Except i already did that AP, and i don't need the pitiful karma boost from the heart (takes less than 20 min anyway) providing i didn't complete the heart killing josso anyway. I could do bounties, but I don't always really enjoy that and I don't have any motivation to do so except passing the time. I have only one scavenger hunt remaining in elon riverlands, so I often chose to AFK rather than do events that I wouldn't enjoy.

My suggestion:Move doppelganger pre-event to happen IMMEDIATELY after killing josso, and make augury rock open on the death of the doppelganger instead of josso's defeat.

Moving doppelganger pre-event to happen immediately i think would make sense thematically- you go in and kill Josso who is at least in part having forgotten magic in him (in the same way kaidenna gets forgotten magic from a branded forgotten). So forgotten and brand magics can be justified to escape now in the same way they escape at the end of the meta.

Reason I say augury rock shouldn't open on josso's defeat, is that if augury rock opened and then we had to gather the escaped magic right away it would cause a conflict of choice chest event versus the various achieves and collections tied to doing stuff inside of augury rock, the same problem that the current meta has with doppelganger versus ghostly pilgrimmage.

So to counter THAT, i think if doppelganger did happen immediately, i think it'd have to be so when you defeat Josso, players are expelled from augury rock (which is still closed) by the release of magic. Players must then gather the wild magic and defeat the doppelganger, with the doppelganger defeated Kaidenna now has enough forgotten magic to expel the brand from augury rock. Augury rock would then be open for 20 minutes for anyone who wants the related achievements, and the ghostly pilgrimmage would happen upon it closing as usual. This of course would mean that augury rock opening would depend on the doppelganger dying- but i personally don't think this is bad now that it has a daily choice chest, it is more likely than not to be successful.

Alternatively, add new events in the augury rock chain, as long as we don't have a 20 minute wait and they actively progress the augury rock meta i'm happy.

Agreed. The overall issue is the events and maps are not designed to accommodate the many people in terms of waiting times and "flow" with awkward waiting times and new maps that fail to spawn the event. Its better than the boss rush though, a little more refinement with the timing. Can't wait for the next one.

Anything that requires you to afk or idle in wait is poor design.Anything that requires attentative or focussed idling is dreadful terrible design (looking at the branded meteorites)

If anet wants events to last longer, putting in waits is not the right way to go

Both afk and idle can be used as a downtime/preparation between fights. So yeah not really a poor design. It's just design you don't like.I do enjoy downtime. You can use it to clear your inventory, gather some nodes, or just go and drink water.

You need 20 minutes for that?This is not after or before a meta event, this is somewhere in the middle.Sure, breaks are nice, they give reprieve, but there's no point to take that break in the middle of an event
