WvW Event ideas

Just some ideas for future events in WvW in an attempt to add something other than no-downstate to interest WvW players. Feel free to add your own ideas and opinions below.

Increased Vitality:

In order to increase TTK vitality will grant (12/15/20) health per point rather than the current 10 health per point. New base health:29,212 : Warrior, Necromancer25,922 : Revenant, Engineer, Ranger, Mesmer21,645 : Guardian, Thief, Elementalist

Impact of event

  • Incredibly easy to add to the game, Most likely a single value will need to be conditionally changed
  • Burst specs including Soulbeast and Deadeye will be indirectly nerfed as it will be harder to down a player with a single burst
  • Players will have more time to react to their opponent as fights will last longer
  • Sustain - Damage ratios will not be touched. So high sustain classes will not become overbearing
  • The change will provide a stronger bonus to lower health classes as well as Core Necro/Reapers and Heralds, due to Death Shroud scaling from life and the Draconic Fortitude trait respectively
  • Golems will be hard to kill, a more complicated event would lower bonus vitality granted by golems to compensate

Cap-less AOE

This event will discourage players from stacking too closely together, in order to encourage more thoughtful zerg fighting

Impact of event

  • A stronger trade off between single target specs and AOE spec will be indtroduced
  • Zerg fights will become more spread out, as players can not rely on others soaking up AOE hits for them
  • Zergbusting will be more effective as a small number of coordinated AOE's can bring down a larger disorganized group
  • Overall thoughtful play will be more strongly rewarded
  • Elementalists will have a brief moment of viability (May need to be patched out of existence)

That is beyond question.

However, such events can be very easy to follow through. (mount glide no permission buff) and speedbuff, done. (+ xp etc)

Given there are only two developers on WvW, getting things working for an event would just delay the restructure even further. I'd rather get that a month or whatever sooner than them worry about giving us a few events in the meantime.

Open house: All gates are open and unrepairable. Lords have triple the health and capping objectives take 5 times as long.

Bumpercars: Knockback and launches have quintuple the range

Turbo: Everyone has permanent superspeed and quickness. Triple superspeed and quickness speeds.

All seeing Eye: All players are marked on the mini map.

Adjusted downed state mode ver 2: Downed state is enabled, but players are not able to manually help them up. (allowable only with profession specific abilities, traits, or skills such as gyros). Dead players are unable to revive and will require respawn.

Battle Royale: A basic weapon is deposited to your inventory when you enter a WvW map. You are unable to use any of your existing equipment and can only make use of equipment dropped from your kills.

mmm... just reintroduce the old epidemic. on that note,

bad idea to make ppl more tankier and everyone will probably reroll revenants to super spam hammer 2.

assassin herald. also the situational super weaver with 5 can kill 50 will return.

builds would probably end up as

1 nomad or minstrel mercy rune fb and 4 other super damage ae zerkers.

fb rev scrap scourge weaver pirata

it will be the age of pirate ship again. you will see rifle long bow warriors. and the only time you'll see melee groups is when they do the invis bomb waypoint.

It would take a some work, but I'd like to see some fractal instabilities worked into WvW for a week. Tweaked and adjusted, of course. Some really interesting ones:

Flux Bomb: You'll randomly get bombed from time to time. Any large zergs will get bombs constantly rained upon them.Social Awkwardness: With the new pushing mechanic, I'd love to see a group of players trying to physically push through each other.Last Laugh: Particularly the knockdown version. Make it so if you don't use a finisher, they enemy players will self-destruct on you.Stick Together: Buddy up or die!Adrenalin Rush: perpetual clutch mode.Boon Overload: This will make the meta pretty interesting.We Bleed Fire: ...I just want the world to burn on this one.

You're probably thinking that a lot of these would ruin the day. Well, that's the point. Shake things up, make them unpredictable, and encourage WvWers to war in new and different ways.

Actually the one event that I completely enjoyed in WvW was the No White Swords Wintersday. You people need to rely on real human eyes at locations for incoming enemy. Your little "Fight Club" thing needs to come to an end, and you need to use the resources of human body's, spread across the maps at locations, to find and call out any enemy movement or attack. YES, I will say the most enjoyable moment was No White Swords Wintersday. It actually forced you to use bodily resources to help protect your territories. Otherwise you wouldn't know what was under attack...not that some of the "Fight Club" commanders give a damn. But...seriously...if they didn't care about PPT....then they shouldn't ever have to worry about losing their territory, and going down in Tier, as they lost location after location after location after location. After all, some of these commanders wanted to go down in tiers. The best way to do that, is not know what was under attack, and what you were losing in the heat of a "Fight Club" moment.

Maybe turn SMC into some sort of mega world Boss event where all the servers matched against each other have to work together to defeat it which at certain times and grants some nice swag in the end.

An event that turns off pvp during that time and it switches back once it’s over for some blob vs blob action. Anything is better than the current state we are stuck in.
