7700k vs 8700k specific to single thread and specific to this game.

Recommended Posts

Assuming running them at the same clockspeeds they will probably perform about equal, since GW2 is not using more cores well. A 8700k is just a 7700k with 2 more cores and 4mb more cache. The cache might give a very small fps boost in some situations. If you plan to play other games in future, the 8700k will be the better bet.

Please don't forget to also raise field of view. Thank you.

got clip just to upload it evrything maxed ull see no lagg at all

Still waiting on that upload

If you're dishing out the money for a 7700k you might as well wait a little bit until motherboards are cheaper and get an 8700k imo. Or just get an 8700k.

In either case you're going to do about the same in GW2, but other games/applications might see some advantages from the 8700k

im not talking about 144fps i told u that i can run it on my pc maxed with old graphic card and got like 40 fps avg.

and beleve me cpu is not prior graphic card is no1 especialy vram

if you want to convince anyone you should show hardware info tool to confirm what youre runningmax graphics settings (btw Effect LOD should be off), max camera field of view and distancesfps meter must be always visiblestay near players (dont run into empty parts of lions arch), or even better go into big wvw fight (50vs50)

A waste of money? Hm. Well, it's definitely faster than the 7700K, has a high frequency and has beaten the 1700X in workstation benchmarks. If I had it my way, I'd get the 8700K and pair it with 2 8GB 4133MHz memory. I'm only using a 6700 non K but going from 2133MHz to 3200MHz gave me 5 - 10 FPS astonishingly.

From reading online, Coffee Lake gets it's performance boost by increased clock speed... IPC seems to be the same as Kaby Lake. So if you're willing to overclock, a 7700K will probably perform similarly on non-multicore-optimized games like GW2.

In any case, both chips run hot... so make sure you budget for a good cooler, maybe even a AIO water cooler, if you plan to get them running at those speeds.

Thats not true. The i7 8700k runs cooler then the i7 7700k. Test shows that the i7 8700k clocks to 5.0GHz witout any problems on all cores with veary litle voltage increas on air coolers for 24/7 use. Most i7 8700k runs 5.0GHz on all cores at 1.350V. If you do that on a i7 7700k you will need a aio or the veary best air coolers to run 24/7
