Which weapon you want next?

So now that PoF Elite is out of the way...Which Weapon you want to see next for the next Elite Spec and what Role do you want it to function as that may be released 2 years from now?

For me I would like to see Staff for a a Utility/DPS Elite Spec preferably for a Technomancer theme Elite Spec.

I know certain people just want Mace but that weapon always felt more made for a Tankish/DPS theme Elite Spec than a Utility Elite Spec in my opinion so my choice of weapon for a Utility theme elite spec went to Staff as my first choice with focus if possible as second choice.

Shortbow or Longbow are still my weapon of choice if Engineer gets a Rambo like DPS Elite Spec because creating tech theme arrows such as "EXPLOSIVE ARROWS!!!! and crafting tech theme Traps.

As much as I want mace or torch or something for the skins, we're sort of overloaded with short-range weaponry at the moment.

Very true, If I had to choose a long range option I'd say Longbow but like a crossbow type skillset. Like launching explosives and stuff. Or they could pull a whammy and make Staff some kind of long range weapon similar to how hammer is a long range weapon on Rev. Not sure what skills it would have though but it would be neat, maybe Lightning themed.

I think it should be 2H, mainly because I think the spec should be very support heavy and wouldn't be good enough if it had only 2-3 skills. It wouldn't synergize with anything we have already anyways.

I like shortbow, but implemented like a crossbow. Each skill could be a different type of bolt for supporting and healing our allies. That would be pretty cool and fit the Engineer I think.

I honestly pick Staff more for a Technomancer Elite Spec as the Support because the introduction of Barrier mechanic can do wonders for for a Support/Utility Elite Spec for engineer involving the use of Electricity to provide AoE wide barriers to everyone around the Engineer and also providing Buffs and/or Enhancing the effects of Buffs into a new more stronger evolved buff unique to the Technomancer's mechanics. Also we already know the opinions of a lot of people involving Minions, probably the majority, being a big "NO!" due to how horrible the current Minions in the game are in both AI, short term lifespan, and use. Unless Anet makes the Minions Immortal or make them very sturdy so they are not easily killed and improved the AI expecting a new Minion base Elite Spec is unlikely to happen.

If it is shortbow then I would atleast expect atleast 3 offensive skill for combat and 2 being Utility/support or they make it like Mesmer Staff and the attack hits both Ally and Enemy where Ally hit will get Support/utility and Enemy hit gets damage/Condition.

I personally prefer Staff to my main choice for a Elite Spec involving support because it can be used as a conduit for Electric theme skills that can provide damage and Support/Utility such as Barriers. It would make a good 2H weapon to introduce to Engineer as a Utility Weapon and into the game to be a Weapon that can provide a large Barrier amount to allies around the Engineer as their Skill 5 weapon ability by using electricity to create a electrical barrier.

A crossbow for everyone... Not necessary a whole new weapon but as skins for bow/rifle. Don't know, scepter as a new elite weapon for engie, controlling automates, machines and golems: Golemancian? Puppeteer? 3 + 1 elites controllable automates performing different basic options: Guard/Attack like ranger's pets with Self-destruct. And as utility skills, some new types of turrets: Shock Turret (Confusion); Glue Turret (Slow) and Tempting Turret (Taunt)

I leaning towards wanting a staff. I really liked the idea that was posted on the old forums of a staff looted from an Asura tomb and getting all magical skills with it (probably suit thief more thematically) but I also think the idea of a ranger style spec where the staff maintains and synergises with a single pet (clockwork automaton or golem) could be interesting too

Yeah, I did think that only 1 AI would reduce the impact, but the AI issues is a whole other can of worms.

The theme should be more like this:

That is one of my favorite lines ever.

I've made dozens of posts to improve the AI and gameplay and counter play of Summons, but you guys seem to just say "NO" all the time like some sort of Parrot without any thought as to what I've suggested or why I'm making those suggestions. Summon play is desired, you might not want it but its extremely popular. Beyond that Engineer would make a much better MM than necromancer.

And besides VOLTRON!

Engineer have turrets, engineer have gyros...why guys do you want more AI? x).

Btw for next spec I really would like a scepter, and a support/healer spec. I like the sword but I preferred a main hand ranged weapon (the only really good ranged weapons for engi is grenades and it's not easy to play, and rifle but both are better at close range). For example technomagi or medic, something with barriers, cc and cleanses would be great.

Please NO condi spec; there is enough condi things on this game =). Engi need more support tools, not condis :) (if we could have a rework of medkit also, like a support team kit ^^).

I have to ask... Already bored by shiny (shining) new sword?Sad thing is... I would see at least few weapons.Mace for "barrier" support specialisation... sorry but energy barriers fit engi way to much... For sure more than necromancer...Dagger for poisoner/healer (maybe buffer and debuffer) support... the saddest thing is... for me there is way to much condition specialisations.Staff for attunment based asura themed specialisation... Imagine if activating toolbelt utility would change your attunment (dynamics, statics, synergetics) utility placment on your hot bar would matter, and would be interesting mix, while it could modify skills but not completely change them (it could mean for example return of elixir infused bombs -> lower base dmg, but give a bit of healing)... but lets not kid ourself Anet didn't even bother to give modificators for all weapons in holoforge...

I was thinking off-hand Focus for an elite spec. It could be like a pocket watch and called "The Clockwork" or something. It'll be the human based technology elite spec and work as the support spec Engi's have been wanting. Pistol/Focus condi support (generic i know) drops the tool bar for a time based mechanic, f1 tags allies, f2 tags enemies they last a certain amount of time before falling off and your 4/5 focus and heal ability and utilities effect anything tagged. If we get the new UI stuff it can utilize it by showing how much health you've lost within the last few seconds and the heal skill "rewinds"/pulls your health and body to the state is was in a few seconds prior.

Coolest elite skill can think of is Time Stasis where you bubble an enemy (It'd have to be balance for bosses maybe only when break bar is broken it freezes the break bar from going up) and all projectiles are frozen as they hit the bubble once the bubble goes down all the damage hits at once as well as stacking all condi's. It'll probably never happen because of the coding required for it to work, but I really want a pocket watch focus for my engi ^^.

Human based? Mechanical clocks were invented by the Charr, as I recall. Plus, we still need something that lets us fight effectively at a distance. Besides, I don't want an elite spec that forces me to use pistol main hand; I like at least some flexibility.
