Warrior needs a spear/polearm

I feel like a poleaxe/halberd would fit much better than a regular spear or greataxe as a weapon type.

Fringe benefit is that a Halberd could be used by several classes (All three Soldiers, perhaps Ranger, as well as Mesmer and Necromancer possibly).

That would also add Large Haft and Axe Blade as a combination for weaponsmithing to craft Halberds without needing to add any new components to the crafting menus.

i've always been a greatsword guy so i've been good since i started the game. 🙂

 

but wish they put the damage bacc in it, miss things hitting for something other than arcing slice on a low hp target. 😓

 

instead of a new weapon they could also do weapon augment traits, enhancing or changing weapon functionality with different visuals. 🤔 *cough bigger greatsword cough 😏

Since several loading screens indicate polearms I made this post quite a while back:

There are enough skins from spear that can be used, a more realistic way would be to allow warrior to wear the underwater weapon on land. But as previous comments already mentioned: that could be a lot of work but I dont think it is impossible.

Another possibility would be to let warrior use staff, but add a yellow/orange holographic spear animation when skills are used similar to necros scythe.

 

Personally I think making the underwater weapon possible on land could be work, but be really fun in the end and still quite fit those loading screens. Underwater spears already have implemented skins, nothing have to be reinvented. Engi could get harpoon on land etc.

Same, but the root is too old school now. If I wanted a self root while casting I'd go play GW1.

They should add in a trait that deals increased damage the closer you are to a target, more if you are stationary.

maybe on an espec...

I had a dream. We have a new espec that uses staff midrange that uses force like ki to attack.

 

With enough adrenaline you can convert the staff into a spear (ranged) or a scythe (melee) for a short period of time eg. 30 seconds. Then bring back imbagon and dervish and all the gw1 stuff.

 

Grandmaster Trait: any quickness you provide also provides alacrity.

Been waiting since beta for land spear/polearm.

 

And for the love of all that is good on Tyria, if they give us staff instead I'm going to break the stupid stick over someone's head and shove the splintered end up th---

It shouldn't be a problem for anet to put the spear as a ground weapon for the warrior, the thief has the staff grip modified anyway in case someone hadn't noticed, most likely if they do they will end up reusing animations and effects as usual and in a bad way, in a very bad way, it will not be sheathed, if I am watching you, bladesworn...

make longbow not take 10 years to land any attacks and give it the ability to hit moving target
also means prolly changing fan of fire but y'know what, go for it, fire is fun
