Michael Conrad.6704
I was in verbal chat (Discord) with 50 of my WvW peers and I keep getting advertisements for Google Chrome and hp.hmyloginhub.com. and others. The advertisement is signaled by an audio chime and it takes up roughly ~8% of my screen. I did a "Print Screen" and pasted it into a word document and the dang little ad banners DO NOT SHOW UP so nobody in my chat group barely believe me ! So far im thinking its a Google Chrome issue but I need to research further. Anyone else have this problem ?
Michael Conrad.6704
I just turned "Google Chrome SYNCH'ing" off and will go down the Settings tab to try everything to eliminate this most annoying privacy infringement.
Michael Conrad.6704
ok, sorry for the rambling but I was informed that this was a consequence of Discord (Settings/ overlay) etc.
Michael Conrad.6704
Still getting these F*ing ad's. Discord is off and ive tried restarting the GW2 and limiting "site access" none of which is working. I like Google Chrome but I will drop them if they make this too difficult to fix without some help. Any
Argon.2405
Can you use a smart phone to take a photo of your monitor showing the ads? That might help people to track down what is causing them.
Ashantara.8731
Could as well be adware. A thorough scan couldn't hurt. You should also reconfigure your browser(s) so that no add-on or "bar" can install without your permission. And make sure to read every page of any freeware installation program, because a lot of freeware installs additional promoted content if you don't uncheck the respective checkbox. Inculpatus cedo.9234
You might try uninstalling Discord, rather than 'turning it off', to see if that alleviates the issue. Sometimes, overlays appear even when 'off'.Good luck.
Cynder.2509
I had this happening on one of my older computers as well once but I didn't have Discord yet because Discord wasn't even a thing back then. It was more of a virus issue because my PC from that time somehow got infected with malware. But instead of "ads by chrome" it was showing "ads by wajam", which I have no idea of what that was. That would be my first guess that it could be malware/adware.
Michael Conrad.6704
Some nice intelligent replies. I will try each idea until I find the culprit. I tried closing the Browser (Google Chrome) whenever I play the game and that seemed to help a little but not entirely. In other words, the adds came but were fewer and farther between. Hmmmm.
