castlemanic.3198
While we're on the topic, I didn't appreciate the Hamaseen name, considering Hamas in Palestine. Caught that immediately and was floored. However, I see absolutely no way how it can be changed now, considering voice acted dialogue references the group. Not cool Anet, not cool in the slightest and super disappointing.Great-uncle tombo is super, super bad and obvious and needs to be changed or removed entirely, especially within a region that relies on a ton of African influences. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom literally the first result in my google search, not please any reference was made to it at all.I am however stumped on finding Haimi being anything particularly noteworthy, as all i'm finding for it are just as a name for either Indian or Muslim girls (also the name of a hotel apparently?).couple minutes laterOkay, I found it. I however think the spelling makes all the difference here, in that one spelling is used as a name and the other as a slur. As it's an item name and not really references anywhere else, it'd be safer to change it.

Just a flesh wound.3589
Do you know how many languages there are out there and how many words sound similar to each other? A lot. Just because it is sort of like another word doesn’t turn it into a slur also. You’ll be a lot happier in life if you don’t go around being offended by innocent words that sort of sound like other words.

And to think over here I just assumed that it was a really poor attempt at combining "tar" and "combo" from his "skills bar" in a lame joke........ Not only is this dangerously close to an ableist slur, it also includes the word "man." Is a woman not worthy of association with a castle? Why does it have to be a dwelling at all? Your classist language is offensive to members of the houseless community. You should change your name to "structureperson" to be safe.See where this road leads? ArenaNet Staff Gaile Gray.6029 Posted October 9, 2017 ArenaNet Staff Share Posted October 9, 2017 Ok, guys. This is picking up steam and I need to close it. I will investigate the background on the names, I do not feel it merits continued discussion at this time. Thanks for understanding.
