czerwoni.9563
So is ascended required or can I use exotic? I just don't want to get kicked 100 times for having exotic gear
Sephylon.4938
exotic is fine as long as you know what you're doing
GrubySzymek.1362
Exotic is enough to kill bosses. None of raid encounters require to hit benchmark numbers already so such small difference in gear department is irrelevant. However, we can't take responsibility for what a group you're going to join is going to do about your gear.
Cyninja.2954
Exotic is fine as mentioned. You should though:work towards ascended trinkets with correct stats (if you own Living World Season 3 this will go very fast)eventually upgrade your weapons to ascended with correct stats (Caladbolg questline after the HoT story, your specialised collection achievement wepons)armor can stay exotic for just about as long as you want, the stat increase is not big enough to make a fuss about it

Maunzi.3764
Exotic is "fine", but many groups will kick you for exotic gear. You also do need ascended gear for fractals. If you plan to do more difficult content and lack a core group of friends to do it with, go for ascended gear as soon as possible. The earlier answers are "truthful" in that it is TECHNICALLY possible to do raids or lower fractals in exotics, but practically, groups frown on this. Weapons are pretty much mandatory in ascended form (the difference is huge, and you'll likely be kicked for low performance if you lack one, since it's unlikely that you will do your rotation good enough at the beginning, so your weapon will make your DPS even worse)
savacli.8172
Mechanically, it's possible to do Raids in Exotic. Granted I'm sure a well-oiled machine type squad could probably do it in greens (I'm exaggerating a little). The reason I say that is because some bosses have been completed with as little as 4-5 players so there is plenty of margin for error. The advantage of having Ascended gear is that even if you didn't improve your technique, rotation, etc you would still be bringing about +10% more damage to the table. For obvious reasons, most groups just want to get in and get out. So if you're coming in with less of a DPS contribution the squad has to make it up somewhere. But then again, in the majority of the encounter lack of DPS won't kill you as much as missing mechanics does. As in I'd rather take an exotic player who knows what he's doing vs a guy in full ascended who can beat up a golem but doesn't know to avoid the blues on VG. Armor without infusions is not that big of a deal.
Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582
Find yourself a guild to run with. I never understand why people pug raid at all, it's a recipe for disaster.
Murdock.6547
I have personally been a part of an all green vg.It can happen. The biggest issue we faced was killing red in a reasonable amount of time due to no expertise gear in green quality.. but that was solved by having some creative rune choices. With that said, I have raided with this person in pugs and they were perfectly fine.As for OP, gw2 has shifted more towards a meritocracy due to dps meters. I know players who hit good numbers in green gear on their alts (obviously they hit god numbers in their main gear). I recommend you make sure your good at your rotation, exotic is passable, use your raid rewards to get ascended though.
nagr.1593
@thrag.9740 It's not an app, it's a Jsfiddle. you can literally search 'li chat code gw2' on google and get it as the 1st hit.Use cases by the public are not the fault of the owner/distributor, using arc as an example. I simply put it up as a helper for returning veteran players who just get HoT, watch a couple in-depth vids on bosses and read the guides, then realize groups reject them just bc they have double-digit LI. Its easy to sit on the other side of the fence and say that those people should join training runs and do it legit, but not have to get their hands dirty and actually do what they preach. Not all of vet players have same skill levels either, so its plausible some are dealing with lower learning curve than others, esp those that use to solo dungeons like Arah and then sell the runs on a daily basis etc. That was original intent i want be clear and its not my fault that players abuse it and are having harder time getting legit exp players as a result. Just like how it easy to misuse arc and kick players base on their dps on even worse on their class they join on. that all i want to clear up
ich.7086
Magi druid is a good candidate for exotic gear since you are already pretty much overkill in healing power.
