People are curious why they haven't hotfixed scourges...Here's why:

STEP 1. Make necors overpowered for a month or soSTEP 2. Nerf them into oblivion for a couple years

The only way they can nerf them to hell is by convincing everyone else that they had their time. And so everyone hates them because of their broken state. That animosity will last for a couple years until they release a new content patch.

This wont work if they do reasonable fixes at meaningful times. This broken state has to prolong for a while until the community is against scourges being viable at all.

Same song and dance every single time.

They're going to make money off all the scourges (boosted animals) and then nerf them. Like... really nerf them.

EDIT: I'm going to revisit this post when this comes into fruition once again.

No it hasn't.

The only reason reaper was ever even remotely relevant to pvp during the HoT cycle was because it had a monopoly on boon hate in a meta defined by boonshare. Even then it still performed poorly in solo-queue and was only propped up by tempest in tournaments.

The class is horribly undertooled for pvp. It has no range diction, bad mobility, poor disengage capability, and poor sustain tools.

Also it's amusing that a thief would dare to call out another class, given that Thief has been meta for both tourneys and solo queue for the past 4 years, with season 1 being the only meta where thief wasn't meta.

Thief has had it easier than Necro overall, but Necros have probably had it better overall than certain other professions (Rangers, for example). Even before HoT, they were the sole counter to the build (cele d/d ele) which beat everything else. After HoT, they were pretty nasty for a while with the chill spamming build (seriously, having your cooldowns increased threefold and your movement speed slowed to a crawl, and taking 60k chill damage at the same time, was not particularly fun).

Personally, I want them to tweak the numbers in a way that keeps both Reaper and Scourge viable, but not oppressive the way Scourge is now. Possibly reducing the facemelting power of the Scourge's kit in exchange for some projectile hate, so that Scourges won't be such a hard counter to melee specs, but won't instantly eat dirt sand when a Deadeye looks their direction, either.
