Faaris.8013
If you are still levelling, don't overthink stats and runes. I would get some good daggers and pistols, and probably use double pistol with #3 most of the time. As for traits, I would go for Critical Strikes and Trickery first, then Deadly Arts until you can get Daredevil. Then ask again when you hit L80 because everything changes then :)When I level other classes, I hate it when a thief joins a fight and has double pistols, because I can almost deal no damage to the mobs before they die. jaif.3518
I advise Sword/pistol for levelling. You can solo a lot of stuff safely and slowly with pistol-5=blind.

By the time you hit 80 you wanna be well versed in the ways of the thief.
Kalari.2760
ty for the input. i had been useing D/D for leveling. steal to shadow step then 5, step behind,1 then 2 with signets for utilities
PopeUrban.2578
P/D is also very easy to level with, and what I usually reccommend to new thieves that are trying to get used to stealth/revealed timers. Its a similar playstyle to D/D, but uses condition gear rather than power gear. You probably won't use it long term as its kind of a one trick pony, but its great for getting used to the stealth and init mechanics with more built in survivability than D/D. MrEntropy.1293
You can start dagger 5, then steal to have both hot at the same time and enter stealth when you arrive
Wargameur.6950
Best advise I could give you is build experience and don't skip content...You can easily come and go from a Guardian to a Necro or a ranger, or an ele to an engi. Thief is a different beast on it's own. You need to learn your weapon sets in depth. What rhythm don't screw your initiative. Look into skills combos, they will increase your survavibility by a lot.First thing, read the description of all your skills and utility. A lot of people don't so they miss a lot of thing. Here is an exemple, Auto-attack chain #3 applies poison. If you have the deadly art traitline, a minor trait applies weakness (50% of hits are Glancing Blows (50% damage)) on poisoned targets meaning the enemy will do a lot less damages. That's some of the details that keeps you alive on a full berzerk stuff. Experiment on pve mobs.Lastly you can join [Teef], to have a thief community to answer the questions you could have ingame :)
