Game of Bones.8975
Has there been a push for a Hard Mode for those who have completed certain requirements?Could be done very similar to GW1: switch to Hard Mode in a city (may have to create a couple more instanced towns across the land), character must be LvL 80, and have either World Completion or Story Completion. Once you step out of a town in Hard Mode, it would be like it is now … only harder – more monsters, better AI, faster, more armor, modified aggro range …Many people are saying things are going too fast “I finished PoF in three days … now what do I do?”, some want new content, and others are happy with the status quo. This would allow for a new challenge for those elite players to explore PvE again and give the rest a reason to go back to core Tyria.
Auri.1365
The problem with Hard Mode in an open world game would be, that additional instances have to be created (and balanced) for every map and that it would split the player base.Furhtermore how would it work if you join a squad with the lfg and you want to join the map, but the map is hard mode and you don't fullfill the requirements for it? The lfg would have to be split too.I just don't see how this could work in the open world.
DakotaCoty.5721
I'd very much like a hardmode for Guild Wars 2 that has lucrative rewards; gold, achievement, titles and auras/infusions or unique expensive skins.
Snowywonders.1378
A hardmode that gives all mobs additional skills and the aggressiveness of the SPvP lobby A.I. would be amazing. The only challenging content in the game is all group content, it would be nice for some solo stuff too.

As new areas of the map are uncovered the player base will be spread even more thin, and I'm guessing all of those areas will be set at LvL 80 anyway (not starter content). You would change your status to Hard Mode in a city (or newly created town for such a change) and step out into the open world. GW1 had the open aspect in the cities and closed parts were the explore-able areas, in GW2, it's just the opposite. There would be no split in LFG because there would be no LFG for Hard Mode. You enter the open world content and explore like you do right now ... only it's harder.
Palador.2170
So it's harder for you, and not harder for those out exploring in normal mode? The only way to do that is to nerf the character, not change the content. At that point, you might as well just play with white gear and call it hard mode. UnbentMars.9126
If you want hardmode here's some options that don't involve splitting the playerbase and requiring extra instances:Add a selectable debuff that decreases your stats by a flat % (10, 20, 30, etc) and then proceed, OR you could just run around naked with only a weapon
otto.5684
You can always solo champions (though some cannot be soloed) or just play harder group content.
Theocraft.6053
I am ok for boss hard mode (for achievement) but only if doable as single player. Not like Migraine. It gives me a headache when I try to find people to do migraine nowadays... Ridiculous. All achievements should be soloable. Those are YOUR achievements, not your party/friends etc.

Dashingsteel.3410
Is it hard mode you are really after or is it special skins and improved loot? After all, you could just remove your armor and play the current maps and it would be hard mode.
