Oglaf.1074
Currently gearing up my little Engi alt and from what I can tell you do get tons of "free" Condis via Holo abilities so I'm kinda wondering if (and when they tell us how to) it would be worth getting Griever stats...? Nephalem.8921
They are really short duration with 1s and 2s. Also engineer's 33% duration trait is on the same tier as the strongest damage multiplier so i would say grieving wouldn't be worth it now. But there is probably a balance patch coming soonish that could change everything.
lorddarkflare.9186
Don't remember where, but I think some number have been run on this, and Grieving is inferior to Berserker.I think Firebrand may be the only class with any appreciable gains from Grieving. insanemaniac.2456
grieving is best suited to a condi build that focuses on a single condi. for firebrand that's burning, of course. engi needs burns/bleeds, but holo can almost go burning only. almost. HotHit.6783
I've run the numbers myself as best I can. A Grieving set-up (with one viper's piece to get 100% burn duration), could reach 100% crit chance with a sigil of accuracy and would deal 60~70% of the physical damage of a berserker set-up and ~93% the burn damage of a condi dedicated Viper's set-up (assuming full raid buffs). Grieving has potential and it is the correct choice for min-maxing the damage of skills like Prime Light Beam, Photon Blitz and Fire Bomb, but it's debatable whether that potential is usable (for PvE we struggle to make a full rotation of burn skills and for WvW that much damage is likely unnecessary). lorddarkflare.9186
I think a few tweaks is all that stands between the class and a workable Grieving build.
