Since the latest patch late last night when I logged on at daily reset to grab my HI stuff (I got the earlier patch several hours before, at the time when my static raid, and in spite of some of my team members being caught in a crash loop, that patch went off without a hitch for me) my game's FPS is constantly dropping through the floor. I've tested and it's only Guild wars 2 this issue affects, even major resource hogs like Cities:Skylines and ARK are running smoothly at 60. What changed? Nothing else on my system has changed since the backup I did yesterday morning, Guild Wars is the only thing I've run aside from firing up my browser to post this, and the only thing I've updated, and it was running perfectly until that second patch.

It's reminiscent of the experience on a friend's laptop which has a discrete graphics card in addition to the onboard graphics of the APU, and where GW2 kept trying to use the onboard graphics instead of the far superior GPU and its memory. With the difference being that my system doesn't have any graphics hardware other than the RX 580 inside it.Come to think of it, my GPU is running at 65 degrees, which is NOT what it usually runs at when GW2 is running, normally that pushes 76-80 depending on intensity. Is it possible for GW2 to run in some kind of software mode without recognising your Graphics hardware? And if so how do I fix that if the patch caused it?

Well, whatever it was, restoring from the backup I took yesterday morning seems to have fixed it, game needed to redownload the patch since the backup image of the drive was before the original patch was available, but FPS is back to normal with everything on ultra, no issues beyond the permanent "unable to gain access to the login server" overlay we've all come to know and love so well.
