So i decided to grind out armorsmith cause hey i actually want at least one good character all nice and decked out and iv got plans to do other professions so i can keep going so mind you im still new to the game i dont know everything

but me being a firebrand healer i wanted to get harriers gear so i buy the ascended recipe thing only to find out the only way to get harriers ascended gear recipes is to do map metas :| but i can buy EVERYTHING else from the vendor...

why? to me thats insanely stupid :|

Those metas do not take long, I can see this is kind of an issue but its not that big of a deal.

I think most people just craft a core ascended gear, and convert it through the mystic forge; it's pretty much the same costtoo troublesome to go for a receipt from RNG when there is a much easier way to get the stats

plus most long term players most likely have lots of unused ascended boxes sitting around in bank

Craft a different set. Use ascended stat changing (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stat_changing) to convert into Harrier gear.

Thats the mystic forge recipe which will output harrier's ascended without having to know the zehtuka recipe. What you do is create rabid or the cheapest armor for your guardian then use the above recipe in the mystic forge and voila instant harrier armor no armor recipe purchased or spent for from a very rarely done meta needed. Now yes you are giving up mats a little more than usual but this way you can save the money you would have spent recipe wise.

They do it that way because the new stat combinations introduced with expansions are one of the incentives to buy and play the expansion. If they could be unlocked automatically like core game stats that wouldn't happen. Instead you have to play one little bit of the expansion to get them. It doesn't take long and isn't difficult to do (especially if you do the Casino Blitz choya event, which also starts right where you first enter the PoF maps) but it means you have to have at least entered the expansion area to get those stats.

Incidentally it isn't just this one it applies to. The same is true of all the stat combinations introduced in HoT and PoF.

I can completely understand you frustration. I believe that anet needs to make some of this stuff buy able from venders, however you can sideways step getting armor with the states you need. craft the cheapest asc armor you can than use the mystic forge to change it to the stats you want, you can use an exotic harrier thing from the trading post all you need is gold

Although I know the recipe... I often miscraft the ascended insignias/inscriptions first...Usually cursing myself after the process.

It's to encourage you to play game content instead of just dumping gold into the TP and doing a soft pay to win. Why be upset about having to play content? I just finished my Tier 1 precursor (first one ever and I preordered the original game) and it felt rewarding to have to go out and earn the items to do so, and now I'm researching what else I need to do in order to get to Tier 2 PreCursor and finally the legendary. It's a good time.

yeah if I'm slideways doing armor I usually pick rampagers or Valkyrie depending on what's the cheapest mats to make or if need be buy.
