Puffer Fish.1796
Hi!I've had this problem across two separate computers now, while my fiance and our roommate have never had this issue across their multiple computers. So I know it's not a universal issue, but I also don't know why it happens. No matter how long I've been playing, the game inevitably freezes. It can be in the middle of combat, in a city, standing still, whatever. There is no rhyme or reason that I can find for it. I read elsewhere that it may be a character model issue, so I have turned all character models down. Low amount shown, with lowest detail. That did not make a difference. After searching, I found my crash log and amongst all the hex key garbage and windows32 directory listings, I found this:--> Crash <--Exception: c0000005Memory at address 00000000`000000b0 could not be readApp: Gw2-64.exePid: 13444Cmdline:BaseAddr: 00007FF656810000ProgramId: 101Build: 82080Module: d3d9.dllWhen: 2017-09-20T19:23:22Z 2017-09-20T15:23:22-04:00Uptime: 0 days 0:00:41Flags: 0That's right, the last time I logged into the game (right before I started this post) it lasted 41 seconds before crash. Before that, it was 6 minutes, 40 seconds. Usually it takes at least half an hour, sometimes up to two hours before a crash. I crashed twice during the final Heart of Thorns fight, multiple HoT instances, champions in the overworld, etc. I'm very frustrated with this.My computer info:GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070.RAM is 8 GB.CPU is Intel i5-6500 @ 3.20 GHzOS is Windows 10, 64bit.This also used to happen on my laptop. My laptop's info as best as I remember it:GPU was NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M.RAM was 8 GB.CPU was some kind of Intel iSomething.OS was Windows 8 64bit, then Windows 10 64bit when it upgraded. The error, as best I can tellI'm not very good at reading crashlogs, so I hope this is the relevant info.--> Error Logs <--Patching failed when loading 0x0011c89e[0]Patching failed when loading 0x0011c4c4[0]Patching failed when loading 0x00128efc[0]Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 0; consecutive: 0}Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 1; consecutive: 0}Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 2; consecutive: 1}Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 3; consecutive: 0}Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 4; consecutive: 0}Download failed for {0x0019f54c:0x00000000->0x0019f54c, range 0 - 4294967295} with error (4:0:0:0) {retry count: 5; consecutive: 0}Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it? I just want to play the game without worry of being dropped halfway through hero points in Dragon's Stand.
abomally.2694
DirectX9 is crashing. Are you using any injection software such as SweetFX (etc.)?If so, remove it and try the game again.

Inculpatus cedo.9234
Programs associated with your graphics card can cause the same problem. You can re-install DirectX9, but if a (graphics) program is interfering, the problem will just appear, again. If you continue to have issue, you can contact the Tech CS Team via the 'Support' link above/below and 'Submit a Ticket' for assistance.Good luck. However, I just tried to uninstall/update/whatever DirectX9 but the setup program told me I need to run an older version of Windows to be able to do that. Are we sure my GW2 is using DX9? How do we tell based on what I posted before?

Inculpatus cedo.9234
While you wait for assistance, you might try turning off all Nvidia associated programs, such as GeForce Experience, etc.Good luck.
DeWolfe.2174
Are you trying to play in full screen or windowed mode?Google DDU and how to use it. Remember to have your usb keyboard and mouse plugged into USB2, not 3 ports, when going into safe mode.Download a fresh copy of the video drivers from Nvidia.com.Use DDU.Then when installing, check custom install and then check clean install. Is your 1070 a super clocked or factory over clocked version? abomally.2694
To reinstall DirectX9 on Windows 10, you MUST use the full offline installer. You can download it here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
