Altitude Indicators missing during map completion - Resolved with Oct 13th patch - [Merged]

On the mini map, I no longer have the little arrows next to map icons that tell me if the icon is above or below my position. Was this disabled for the Four Winds Festival, did I accidentally turn these off in my settings, or is this some bug with the latest patch?

I have this issue since the patch as well. I'm trying to make my way through HoT quests so this makes finding the quest objectives and the map objectives, such as skill points and such much more difficult than they need to be.

Normally, while I am mapping or farming, items on the compass show an altitude indicator as being above or below with a blue or green arrow, as indicated on the wiki page for graphical user interface. This is missing since the last patch, it's making mapping a chore in areas that are very vertical. Please fix asap as we need to know the altitude of items we are trying to find for map completion or farming materials.

EDIT: As of the October 13th patch for the Mad Kings Realm it appears to be back, it isn't noted in the patch notes but everything seems back to normal with the compass. =)

The little green arrows, indicating if a map icon is above or below your current position, is no longer on the mini map or world map since the Festival of the Four Winds update.

I thought it was me as well until I went to bloodstone fen, which is very vertical, and with everyone is hunting bloodstone nodes I asked if they were having an issue finding them without the compass indicators and several people responded they thought something was wrong but didn't realize what it was till I pointed it out, lol. I never realized how much that altitude markers helped me until I noticed it missing in tangled depths and wanted to rip my hair out! xD

Basically what it says in the title. Resource nodes no longer have the green arrow that state if they're above or below on my mini map. According to map chat, I am not the only one with this issue.

Ditto, and like you, others in chat verify it. I hope it is a bug and will be fixed fast not something that they did on purpose. Anet let us know which one it is please (ya I know they don't care to communicate but doesn't hurt to ask for some interaction).

I don't know if this is related, but a couple of days ago the red parachute indicator for the little loot baskets, scattered around on the maps, stopped appearing no matter which map I tried, no matter on which character. No one else seemed to be having this problem...

I've never used this setting: Show All Usable Object Names — Always display object names (like gathering nodes, interactive objects or special decoration).I feel like it really spoils the feel or atmosphere, not to mention, takes away the idea of the hunt for things, making it no challenge at all. But I activated it in frustration at not being able to find those little baskets!!

The next time I logged into the game, I unchecked it just to see & sure enough! There were the red parachutes! And they've been there ever since. I know it seems weird, but that's my story & I'm sticking to it.

Nope nothing, their SOP!!!! It baffles me how no one at anet noticed this during their testing nor even cares to acknowledge it or that it is being addressed.

Yes, they removed the indicator telling you whether something was above or below. The text is also removed in the tooltip.

I've been having this issue for about a month now, and while I kept expressing my frustration with this bug to my friend, he had no issue whatsoever at the time. I guess whatever happened, is somehow account related and not everyone got affected at the same time. The lack of any response from Anet or acknowledgment of the problem, is just laughable.

After saying your friend had no issue, I tried a client repair. Didn't work , still no above/below indicators ( as well as nothing from Anet-- at least they said something about the TP issues).Edit , didn't see this addressed in the patch notes. Too bad.

Wow, and now after today's update they introduce new bugs and haven't fixed this or made notice of it still. Can someone from Anet please respond and let us know the status of this bug, it's been going on for weeks now?

Nothing, I've created a ticket now since no one is responding here from anet to give us a heads up as to why this happened and why it's not being fixed.
