Cool Stone & other junk

Cool Stones drop while mining Eternal shards in Bjora Marches, they are valued at 2c, why does this even exist in the game? there is no one who finds 2c valuable, not even a brand new player, just remove this kind of loot from the game.

2c for Cool Stones. You can also get Cold Stones, which are worth 98 copper I think. It's just a little something here and there.

I mean, that's basically how all junk works in this game. It stacks up in your inventory slowly but then you purge it every time you see a merchant for a few silvers.

Junk items like that exist to give players a better sense of a reward. Giving players a random 2c here and there isn't noticeable and players actually complain when they aren't notified of drops (not just in GW2 but in MMOs/games in general) since they feel like they're getting nothing out of the work they put in.

Junk items can be annoying—especially when their vendor value is so low—but there's a psychological reason for them being there in addition to taking up bag slots that force people to find a merchant.

That's exactly the explaination I've heard before for why other games have junk items, and it certainly seems likely that GW2 is the same. I've also heard that slowly filling your inventory helps to force players to take a break from farming to find a merchant so they can empty it, and that can prompt them to take a break from the game as a whole, reducing the risk of unhealthy gaming practices.
