Rick Durango.7283
I can't find anything on this- are there any plans to update the game engine to support modern features like support for multi-core/multi-threaded processors? My processor is at a weird age where its single-core performance isn't stellar but it performs excellently on games that take advantage of multiple cores. This game seems to chug in certain areas on my system at pretty much all settings while I can run today's latest and greatest eye candy at a minimum of medium.FX-8320 for reference. TEKnowledgy.1760
No they dont plan to. But i tell you a secret or 2 how to gain a decent amount of fps using an 8320. I also use one If capable of ocing turn turbo off take it to 4GHz always by using a multiplier of x20, dont mess with anything else. If you dont want to oc or can't, i also have something will help either way. When u get in game alt tab out, if on window just minimize and do ctl alt delete pull up task manager go to gw2.exe (if x 64 its gw2-64.exe) right click do affinity turn core 0 2 4 6 off uncheck them. Now just head back on in game you should see a noticeable improvement in fps. Just remember have to do it every time you play game. If you got a amd gfx card google radeon pro it has profile per game and ability to set which affinity you want on and off per profile i use this man its really handy.Personally, i do both suggestions i got about a 25 fps increase and fps also alot more stable not jumping al over the place. Also recommend turning vsync off using frame limiter at 60 fps. This help prevent it from going to say like 100 fps then all of a sudden dropping to say 30 those drastic of changes can be very annoying. (60 to 30 isnt so extremely bad as 100 to 30 its hella noticeable)Just toss this in as a bonus the affinity trick works on every game i have. In gta5 i gained 30 fps alone from the affinity trick. In mafia 2 i actually did better with all 8 cores with in game benchmark. Shrugs but at least 95% of my 575 steam games and guild wars 2 gain huge improvements with just 4 cores over using all 8 cores and with the full time 4ghz instead of the base 3.5ghz with turbo 4ghz. So if you can OC that is a safe clock, it doesn't go past stock turbo anyways. Turbo isn't all that great for gamers it only boosts 2 of 8 cores. When its off and you oc to 4ghz all cores will run 4ghz and also prevent the cpu from down clocking up clocking so much with that turbo function it messed with me really bad in gw2 i couldn't stand it. With the OC wont happen at all.
