kKagari.6804 Posted October 18, 2017 Share Posted October 18, 2017 I've been PvPing with people all season who were woefully unaware that protector's strike can essentially deal the same amount of damage as full counter (without revenge counter). Prior to todays nerf, they had the same damage coefficients. People have no problem hitting the PS, but complain about FC. I get that PS isn't as loaded as FC, but the damage was still there! I get that PS isn't as loaded as FC, but the damage was still there!The reason why Protector's Strike isn't brought up at all is because it's attached to mace, guardian's won't use mace unless it's on a bunker support build, and with the low mobility it has no one wants to really use it, but it does hit for a nice chunk when you're specc'd for damage, which is never the case. FC is unique still compared to Protectors Strike, PS blocks attacks, FC absorbs it and grants stability, but I'm fine with FC being it's own unique thing considering it's a profession mechanic after all.. People complain about Spellbreaker because it now brings tools to warrior that allow them to effectively deal with debauchery like fight resets through kiting with ports or stealth, which people used to do all the time to warrior to make them pop their survivability tool and just run away after until the duration was up, then throw whatever they have on them after. Boon punishment(main selling point of the spec) is also something to point out, being able to consistently rip boons off of people through CC makes some professions much squishier. And I agree with you, FC is more accessible, but damage wise it isn't too different to PS, and people primarily complain about the damage. The accessibility is what needs to get toned down. In pvp scenarios , the class can only 3v1 one cause every plays CONDI DPS. Against power builds the class falls off hard, because most people spec the clone condi on full counter for the dmg. I get that PS isn't as loaded as FC, but the damage was still there!That's because Protector's Strike has a base 15s cooldown, has a smaller AoE, isn't an extra, all-weapon freebie stapled to the profession skill bar (which is arguably FC's strongest feature), can technically still be interrupted (although that is mostly a fluke if it happens), forces the player to bring a stupidly static weapon with effectively 0 utility, and it doesn't have an entire traitline which makes it magnitudes more cancerous than it already is.Both Prot Strike and FC are cut from the same cancer cloth (along with the mesmer blocks, especially scepter 2), but FC takes the cake because it is not only functionally the best out of all of them, but it gets a bunch of passive procs which make even more obnoxious without any downside to the user. Regardless, they are all respectively game-ruining designs. It's not really worth that much to say how one is worse than the other when they all use the same fundamental mechanic.
