Getting too expensive?

@kharmin.7683 said:If OP were playing any other MMO, they would be paying that sub fee anyway? So, why not just buy gems monthly as if it were a sub fee and then OP would have the gems to purchase things?

Usually people want to have it auto removed from their credit card so they don’t have to think...

And I honestly think people want others to have their same habits so they can feel better about themselves..

And logic has no place on this forum... You know this! ?

so you are "leaving" again, I thought you also had a super job now paying all the stuff easily on the side? Man (yeah, I don't buy into the girl narrative, that is a man's thing unfortunately :) ), you gotta be more consistent with your narratives, that forum teasing/trolling of yours really suffers.

I have 30 character slots. Never bought one with rl money. You convert gold to gems when they are cheap like 600 gold to 2000 gems, Wait till character slot on sale. It's like 200g per character slot maybe less I forget exactly how low the sale price is. 730g from doing dailies everyday a year. another 470g from just logging in so that's 1200g if you do the bare minimum so 6 free slots per year if you put in the least amount of effort.

Game is not unplayable.

So apparently you don't play WvW in 3 ways fights. The lag in this game has just gotten worse and worse over time. I would not recommend to new players at this point.

Didn't realize that GW2 was only WvW 3 way fights. While I will agree that some modes and content have significant issues, I will argue that the entire game is unplayable.

I am over defending them for their actions. They have not proved its worth the time. They need to fix their game. I am what they would call a whale. And even I have had enough.

Complain to me when you spend 30 on an outfit, 10 on pets (minis), another 10-20 for storage. Yea, gw2 is NOTHING compared to other mmos that demand more out of you (like BDO). This game is not expensive in the slightest and much more fair. Every spend five bucks on dyes that you want and not get to keep them unless you have your sub up?

Yea, didn't think so. This game is the cheapest damn mmo in the market yet people STILL want to complain. Amazing.

When they saying paying sub money they clearly mean that in other MMO's you can get a months subscription for the price of 1 single mount skin. I wont argue if the price is fair or not tbh. But it does seem folks want to ignore the fact that the gem store is a bit predatory when it comes to items sold for convience. Oh and saying other predatory games are more predatory doesn't mean it's right to be so.

True, perhaps, but that mount skin isn't required to play the game. Actually, almost everything in the gem store isn't required to play the game. From what I understand, games with sub fees tend to lock content behind the subscription.

Oh yes ofc. I wont ever argue about the price of cosmetics even though I am a sucker for em personally. They have to walk a tightrope there because if its to expensive it wont sell. Locking content behind a subscription aint as black and white as that probably sounds I think. One has to think about how big a patch is. How much content comes with said subscription. It all boils down to the game one uses as a reference. As a WoW player (very casual now) I find their model to be pretty good when an expansion is a success. Legion for example was awesome for content vs sub costs. BFA, awful :D

I thought Runescape and the Squeel of fortune was disgusting when it released - but to be honest, Guild Wars 2 takes the cake for aggressive MTX tactics and even lootbox gambling... It's pretty inappropriate.

I agree. Now they put exclusive shiny skins in rng Black Lion Chest. And only recently i found out that you can literally gamble in their casino for a chance to win lots of gold. This is not right.

If you play the game and have enough patience you can get whatever you want! If you dont play enough to and still want the coolest things for free then learn to flip at the trading post and your problem is solved! Its easy, check for tutorials on youtube! Only few mins here and there and some little patience, its all it take to get rich! Just keep in mind that no money no candy, the game need some money to stay alive and to develop. If you mostly play pvp and/or wvw, then you can have some reluctance to spend real money into the game. ANET put only little efforts to develop these game modes. The money you give away is mostly use to develop pve, its not fair for the pvp and wvw community.

Yes, as much as you're ignoring the fact op says things like "you have to buy mount skins because base ones look worse" or character slots are too expensive because "I want every race/sex/class combination". Nothing about those cosmetic items is even close to being "must have".

You realize there are people who want to play every race and sex combination? That's a lot of $10 bills. And with the expansion coming out, we'll need to upgrade our PC hardware. I think Guild Wars 2 is too expensive for me... which is a shame, because this is the best online game.

You can do this with the basic 5 slots make a human warrior play through the story delete.Make a asura warrior play through story rinse and repeat until you done all of them.About the mount skins that is subjective would still have all the basic ones if I did not splurge on branded pack awhile back.

About upgrading your pc that is needed for every game mate.

You wont be able to play current wow on the 2004 computer you had when it released.Any game releasing in 2021 would be hard to play on a 7-8 year old computer so why would gw2s next expansion be any different?

Why would I create characters i wanted to delete?

Oh read wrong well all race and sex would be 10 slots not to bad mate, just cut down a few drinks a month and you will have 5 more slots easy.

I think you still don't understand. I want every race/sex/class combination. That's hundreds of dollars in slots. People do spend that much, though I am hesitant to.

With that kind of agenda I say good luck getting out of the 1-15 zones, nevermind worrying about buying a mount skin.

I agree with you, they are so many nice mount skins that are expensive, and on top of that most of the time they're not even available to get when you want it just like every freaking gem store skin, for example even black lion glider or outfit tickets for example rotate very rarely in the gemstore, so like whats the point, and character slot expansion should atleast be 100 gems imo, i'm way too poor to afford 800gems for just one 1slot. most people who are disagreeing are probably people who played before expacs came out and had nothing better to spend that amount of gems on.

@Danikat.8537 said:The first thing to realise is that you do not need any of that to play GW2.

Mount skins are purely cosmetic. I completely understand liking them and wanting to use them, but you don't need them. You will never find anything in the game which you cannot do because you're using the default skins.

Character combinations are almost entirely cosmetic. There are a few things which need a specific profession, race or sex but nothing which needs a set combination of all 3 so you can cover all your options with 9 characters - one of each profession, or add a 10th to cover all the race/sex combinations too. But the vast majority of stuff can be done with just 1 character.

Cosmetics is a big part of aot of people who play gw2, some people (like myself) would literally not play that one toon for a while unless for example a gem store skin you want is not currently in the gem store, you just become stressed and frustrated especially when you see people with that skin you really want, and you can do nothing but stare at the preview screen...its all apart of the roleplay....mmoRPg, point is, cosmetics is the end-game for alot of people but i get to realize that there are 2 kinds of gw2 players, roleplayers and players...
