@Grand Marshal.4098 said:Well the issue with all this is that DSD is a total mystery so we may not know what applies to him. Supposedly, he should be Kralkatorrik's oppossite, since Jormag has Primordus and Zhaitan had Mordremoth. But we were never led to believe that it was the case. So what if the DSD functions different than his brethren? All kinds of things could apply to him despite being an Elder Dragon.

The possibilities are endless. The storyboard team can find any excuses to get us where they want. Which is very exciting, but we just have to hope they don't contradict already established facts.

The DSD is not a total mystery, and certain things are known about it - like the fact it's evil and has actively forced the krait, quaggan, and karka out of their homelands and its minions are actively fighting the largos in 1325 AE. Or that its minions are made of water and takes tentacled shapes. And there's no reason to doubt that the universal things about Elder Dragons (even Jormag and Aurene, the most radically different Elder Dragons) will be true for the DSD.

While there is a lot of room for ANet to work with - we're not even firmly established that the DSD will be involved. It's just highly implied (much like Zhaitan and Mordremoth being opposites is implied, not confirmed).

Besides, in all cases (but the Pact Commander because Fashion Wars), "bonded champion" rather than "corrupted champion" still results in physical alteration - Caithe is crystallized, Ryland and Bangar are icy. So I don't think that this woman is the DSD's (or Kuunavang's) "bonded champion" because no watery tentacles on her.

And the thing about Jormag doing it, is that they're an exceptional manipulator who has always acted different from the other Elder Dragons, particularly in how they always coerced before corrupting.

One could flip that around and point out that Cantha has always had a special relationship with dragons (especially if the Celestial Dragon that is invoked during the Dragon Festival is not simply Tahmu), and Aurene formed her bond with Caithe and the Commander before she became an Elder Dragon. So it's possible that the non-Elder Dragons of Cantha, particularly powerful named examples like Kuunavang and Albax, could have their own champions... and whether it's done for the sake of fashion wars or not, the Commander is an example of a link that doesn't result in a visual change.

Heck, it's entirely likely that the celestial skills granted by Kuunavang towards the end of the Factions storyline was essentially a low-key creation of bonded champions in all but name, albeit one that Kuunavang broke once it was no longer needed.

This has been my thought since I saw the concept art of that woman. I think she might serve as a Champion to a elder dragon hopeful, as we did with Aurene. I have a hard time seeing the DSD seeking mortal connection based on the little we know. High dragons that might seek to replace the DSD, however, are another story. If we see any new Champion figures in EoDs, I think that's the version we'll see.

"A Promised Future" could really mean anything though. Clearly something/someone is looking toward her future (for better or worse), or trying to point her future in a specific direction.

So there is another artwork of Echovald Forest called "Strange familiarity" on the Wiki's EoD page, but I haven't found any comments on it yet. It looks like an Auric city in the Echovald Forest, the colors are similar to the other cities of the Exalted.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/2/22/Echovald_Forest_concept_art_01.jpg

Now the architecture might be different from Tarir, but then Keisho also had a different art:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/1/1b/Kesho.jpg

So is it possible that another Dragon was raised in another Exalted city? And does it have to be another scion of Glint (at least to my knowledge there were only Vlast and Aurene) or isn't it possible that another Dragon's scion was raised here?

To me it just looks like the Kurzick catedrals from guild wars 1.

Looks like the same stained glass windows. But since it's 15 years old, obviously it looks more detailed on the new concept art.

That one also looks like regular Kurzick architecture to me. These ones, on the other hand, looks more like potential Exalted outposts imo:

First one could be either Jade Sea or Echovald, but looks more likely the Jade Sea to me, maybe they could have built one in/underneath the Jade?

Second one looks like the Undercity, another great potential place for building a hidden outpost that nobody would think to look for.

Kurzick architecture follows the rules of Gothic architecture. Pointed or ovigal arch, stained glass etc. The "Strange familiarity" artwork has only a few of such elements, on a closer look there are maybe one or two windows, but the architecture itself is very different in my opinion. It's also glowing in the typical auric color, which no other Kurzick building has. Besides, most Kurzick buildings are interwoven with trees, even the other EoD artworks always follow this rule:

However, I'm not saying the Auric City has no Kurzic / Gothic elements, but just like Tarir is more Aztec and Keisho fits more into Elona.

Yes, the second one is close to the lower levels of Tarir. The first however looks like "normal" Kurzick architecture to me, only that it looks like it was build between huge mushrooms instead of trees. But maybe you're right, who knows how big the city is.

There was an interesting post on Reddit showing a close-up of Kunavang's eyes. I went looking for something in the past but somehow missed it. It looks like the silhouette of the Mai Trin looking girl in the concept art in Kuna's eye.

Interesting to think of who it is if so, and more so if that is the voice that's talking to Kunavang. Nothing insisting that Kunavang is looking at the speaker towards the end of the trailer so it could just be Kunavang looking at the new commander placeholder.

Here's the post, and here is the image posted where there could be a similarity between an artwork and something in Kuunavang's eye.

However, if you rewatch the trailer yourself at about 0:41 (highest resolution, slow speed) you might notice that whatever Kuunavang is looking at seems to move real fast, kind of... fluttering... so I'm not sure what we are looking at, but it seems to be there on purpose.

If Kuunavang is really talking to that lady (bigger picture), who might be levitating over the Jade Sea and in fact be in the same location as Kuunavang in the trailer, than this could be really interesting, especially because the way she is talking about mortals implies she is immortal herself.

Thanks, I see it now and I suppose it fits with ANet apparently saying there were still a few things disregarded/overlooked in the teaser

I think the woman might just be the Commander placeholder for EoD, seems like a mundane look for an immortal being who is besties with Kuunavang and is someone we supposedly need but maybe I'm biased since I'm still really into the Lyssa theory

Can't wait to find out either way
