preacherdad.3751
How do I find out about event timing? Boss events are easy as there are sites that list them, but there are other events I need to play (to complete a collection) that I can't find out the timing on. I just have to visit the location until I happen to pop in at the right time. There has to be a better way.
Pacificterror.7805
Are you referring to meta events? If so, hopefully this link is helpful https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Event_timersAs far as I know, some if not all events happen at regular intervals (for example Night and the Enemy in Verdant Brink happens once every ~2 hours) so if you're commonly in a certain area, chances are you'll know roughly what time an event will start once you've played there enough. Danikat.8537
Look it up on the official Wiki (link at the top of the page). Not all events are on a fixed timer, some reset a certain amount of time after they were last completed or failed, some depend on other events being completed first or other conditions being met (for example some events will only occur when an area is under enemy control) and some appear to be semi-random. Sometimes it's a bit of both - for example world bosses are on a timer but there's also pre-events which need to be completed first. It doesn't happen very often these days but early on I remember seeing maps where the boss didn't spawn because too many people waited at the spawn point and no one went to complete the pre-events.The Wiki will show a schedule for the events which are on a timer, but it will also explain other conditions. If there isn't a timer check the side bar and the notes section of the page especially as those often include info on the conditions which have to be met for the event to start. And if you find one with no information on when or why it starts either use the feedback tab to let the Wiki krewe know or tell us here. If anyone knows or is able to find out what the start conditions are we can add it.

omgNova.9052
To add to the posts above, typing '/wiki et' will bring up the Event Timers wiki page. Very useful for when you're standing around at a loose end.
Hesione.9412
The page works well for events that are on a set timer, but some are not. For example, the Silverwastes meta is not on a timer and the chest that drops for successful completion of the meta is required for some collections. Other examples are the temple events in Orr, and non-world-boss champion spawns.

Ashantara.8731
Type in map chat: /wiki ET Visit the official Wiki event page manually (link posted earlier) or go to this fine site: http://gw2timer.com/
Kaltyn of Torbins Deep.294
Since you're talking about events for a specialization weapon collection and not a world boss, you have to look up the specific event you are needing for the collection on the wiki. If the event is part of a chain, in the info box in the upper right corner of the wiki page for the event it will say "Preceded by event xxx". Then look at that event and the start conditions for it. And keep going back until you find the start conditions for the event chain. The spellbreaker's dagger has an event like this in it's collection - the Escort Second Spear Nayrim to potential shelter event. For that one, I had to track down the starting event and then work through the entire chain to make sure it happened the way I needed it to. And when you start the specific event you need for that collection, pop either your commander tag or the mentor tag and call it out in map chat - you may not be the only person wanting that and others that have done it may come to help. Cuks.8241
Check wiki. Check both the event and collection wiki page. If there is no info there its usually an event on a short timer like 10 to 20 mins. Wait a bit. Also sometimes googling will find forum posts with useful info.
