LW4 mastery (possible spoilers)

Now some of you probably are asking the question "will HoT only players be able to play LW4?"The answer is most likely they will. As it is right now LW4 should be available to players that have eithet HoT or Pof, if they don't have both obviously.Now for PoF players it's pretty obvious why they will be able to play LW4, but why HoT you ask?Well simply because we still have 6 2nd generation Legendary Weapons to go and it is pretty clear now that they will be using the exact same recipes as those from LW3.Notice that PoF has no "gifts" to offer for map completion, ergo the gifts from HoT will be used.And while it could be that the required specific ingredients like "Tribute to the Queen" could be bought from vendors from LW3, it would make the situation a bit absurd since these 2nd generation weapons always have a theme related to the new area that they come along with.

But here is the thing, what about LW4 masteries? Which experience/mastery points will they require? From HoT or PoF? Or maybe it will be a new mastery line independent of both HoT and PoF mastery points.My guess is it will be PoF mastery points/experience. But how will HoT only players get around these areas you ask? Well the new areas will probably make use of the masteries from HoT and LW3 like the Thermal Tubes, Bouncing Mushrooms and Gliding of course, which will allow them to fully explore the area. While PoF only players will use their mounts and new mastery to fully explore them. This new mastery will probably be a new mount too, given how all PoF masteries are only mount related.And while this may seem unfair keep in mind that with the exception of Gliding and Spectral Aid HoT masteries have no real use outside of HoT and LW3, so they deserve a bit more places to make use of them, on the other hand all mounts can be used anywhere including HoT. So while HoT only players will have a slight head start over PoF only players, they will be able to use their new mount anywhere.

I have the feeling that will need to have PoF to play LW4, especially because is fair and LW4 is PoF content just like LW3 was HoT content. (might be wrong of course but I doubt that xD)

I'm afraid that's the kind of decision the devs don't make. It's the accountant in that case. However I don't think they will require both. They may add new legendaries to older maps.

Gen 2 Legendaries maybe tied to new LS releases, but their Tributes are versatile, and are available from many merchants in HoT and LS3.
You will need PoF to play LS 4, but you will still only need HoT to craft the rest of Gen2 Legendaries.

I seem to recall Anet saying that all currently unreleased legendaries will still only require HoT items (I believe MO said it himself). So, even if the legendary releases remain tied to LW updates, they won't require the PoF content. However, LWS4 will almost definitely require PoF. Season 3 required HoT, and I don't think Anet is likely to change that with Season 4 and PoF.

Also, the complete lack of any HoT Mastery mechanics (bouncing mushrooms, adrenal/speed mushrooms, wallows, or necessary gliding) in the maps and story of PoF seem to indicate that Season 4 will continue in that vein.

It would not make sense for either xpack to work. The mastery points in it need to be tied to one or the other. Safe money is it will be tied to pof.

It's pretty sure that LWS4 will require PoF, same as LWS3 required HoT.

You will most likely be able to unlock the episodes to your account, but not play them until you have purchased PoF. Also chances are high that PoF mastery points will be used for the new mastery with LWS4.

The remaining Gen 2 legendary weapons will still be tied to HoT, work off of pure crafting without legendary journey (same as the last few). This was already confirmed by Arenanet.

The only real question is, which other new legendary options will come with LWS4. I believe it'll be more legendary trinkets, but we will have to wait and see.

I guess most new maps will be in shiverpeak mountains (braham) or elona (krakaltorrik) so yeah you will need elona (pof) for that

Hate to pop your bubble but I don't want you thinking that you can play living world season 4 without POF, and leading other players to think it.

You can not play living world season 4 if you only have the core game, or just have hot. Living world season 4 is content attached to POF. IDK if you will be able to have the maps coming to living world season 4 But, I know you won't get the story at all if you only own hot.

If you read the FAQ in POF page they say this.

Q: Do I need to own Path of Fire to play future content releases?

A: Living World Season 4 episodes and raid releases will require Path of Fire to play. The raids released during Season 4 may use both Path of Fire and Heart of Thorns masteries. As long as you log in while a Living World episode is live, you’ll still unlock it for free and can play it after you upgrade your account.

So hot masteries we earned in hot will still be of use with the POF masteries. I don't think you will be able to play it though unless you have POF. You can maybe be able to get into the maps however the story you won't get.

It would make absolutely no sense at all if you didn't need PoF to play Season 4. The maps will of course be made with mounts in mind so you having none would be a problem. Also if you don't own PoF you won't have any Desert Mastery points which the Season 4 masteries will obviously require.

This.The argument that we have some legys to go doesnt really apply here. They could put the new legys on the LS3 maps without any issues.

My guess would be that PoF will be required for the masteries. I see LW3 as HoT content and LW4 as PoF content. Without these, the expansions are way too small. Remember how GW1 brought us enrtire new continents?

But the Living World concept compensates for the low amount of new maps. With HoT the map content doubled after LW. I hope PoF will do the same.

Legendaries are set up on a pretty versatile system now so they can easily release more of them without actually requiring anything for PoF to craft them, but the safe money is on a unified LW4 currency similar to the function UBM filled in LS3, if not literally just more sources of UBM.

Season 4 is one of Path of Fire's feature, but I heard that Raids will be available for Hot only players.

There is no reason to return to Tarir/Rata Novus. Caithe most likely left Tarir to chase after Aurene, Rata Novus is ruled by Phlunt now. So let's focus on big bad of Season 4- Kralkatorrik so now there will Caithe, Logan, Rytlock (obviously) and possibly Zojja be involved. I hope one of them will mess up something- I mean somebody will want to kill Kralkatorrik anyway and some of them will want to put him to sleep or something like that.

I hope Season 4 is going to be the most complex story ever.

I would want it to apply to something like the raptor. Just to see the heads explode of the people that bought the griffon.

What I think is more likely is we will get some sort of a 6th mount (whether flying or something else) and the masteries will be on that in every chapter.

My theory is that the LS mastry track would add a set of 2-5 skills to mount bars that is shared among them. Either additional movement enablers or some sort of mounted combat mechanics (e.g. a secondary engagement skill you use for dismounting certain foes before you can fight them, a mount based self heal, a mount version of something like speed shrooms, etc.)

Or its old school junundu.
