If you *really* want skilled play

It would require a rebalance of nearly every single skill in the game. And while limiting AoE (Getting rid of it completely would basically be less skilled play.) would create more thought behind every skill and where you put it it would also be very uniform. You're a mesmer, so you're pretty much used to single target gameplay already, and me as a main guardian am more used to putting my skills to hit as many people as I can. Both those require skill to do.

It does not required that much of invenstement LOL....

Actually IMO means less aoe but would imply BETTER designed aoe, less cleaves(as in remove cleaves from autos) but improve cleaves for other skills the issue is that lots of players are being easily tricked with the spam since they dont want effort they call this very skillfull, even some when something broken get fixed call and cry it was a nerf...

Example:Remove cleave from autos atacks on most weapons unless its a schyte, magical atack.Give some AOE spells slightly longer CD for example meteor shower, but double the targets, this would make players that play some aoe classes more desirable and require more skill and timmings,to compensate the reduce of cleaves.Change most damage AOE utilities to 1 or 3 targets, like DH traps....

IMO this would be fine as well for pve, player would work as a team or play together for objectives...... ITS A MMO...

But i feel gw2 players base dont want game to get better, the stupiest the game gets its better and easyer for them.....

It makes me sad, after investing this much time, energy and money... I wish I believed that ANET cared whether I play or not.

Do you realize that mirage chains long periods of dodge=invulnerability and has easy teleport elite to overdo positioning mistakes? and what about chronomancer chaining shield 4-distortion-blur-stealth? and what about mindwrack which is aoe? mirage shatter which is aoe too?....do you realise mesmer more than others relies on aoe to do dmg?...all your shatter are aoes....

they had only 4..now 5 classe and out of these 5 classes you will still se only 1 class with much more players than eny other because in compare to rest have everything what is needed...mobility, good burst anf tot his defence based on stat which is comming to burst as only one class have itwith not to mention on start ESO had not bad balance..pvp was nice but then devs crated "proc sets" for "casual players" to help them with fight with exp players...but as always devs had in ass what if those exp players will also use those "proc sets" and this just fucked more this game because skill wasnt neede more because your armor sets was killing your target, not you, you was able to go on 100% tank and set was killing your target because set proc damage was on his own not depending on your offensive stats

so if you want please dot tell other to look on any other games balance how its much better and more beautifull than here...because in many many other games pvp balance is similiar fucked with time like we have here..on start game it was so good, not bad but with time with next expansions balance pvp went fucked in many MMO's

Since you want to bring up ESO's proc META. That META has been gone for many many months now. Actually most players in Cyrodiil (ESO's version of WvW) have stop using their proc sets. Because ZOS completely nerfed a lot of the prominent proc sets into the grounds. (Cleaver Alchemist nef incoming in less than a week.) ZOS is now working on balancing heavy armor set ups in Cyrodiil next. (Taking away players in heavy armor, ability to use shuffle and a bit of the passive weapon and spell damage.)

So your information is out of date by at least 5 months. Proc sets are not even widely used in PvE content anymore. Because they now deal less damage and burst then the crafted sets.

Also atm all of the classes are nearly equally represented in Cyrodiil, with the exception of Magicka Warden.

yeah it can be outdated because I stopped playing in ESO these 4-5 months ago for gw2 haha xDbut someteims I looking on forums and on ESO is still 1 problem...addon which is not counting on cheat but even anyone can have something like this for privacy and wont be banned for this because its "addon" called MIATS alert.

where its inforim you abour every inc attack which you never will be able to see your eyes like attacks from stealth which event arnt attacks..they are just starting casting and this shit is alerting and with many others attacks which you will never be able to see/notice but this addon is alerting you about inc attack and insta dodge even befor e this attack will start comming to you so for many its unplayable in some aspects of pvp which is sad how this cheating addon isnt an problem with use for those devs

EDIT: long past was problem 1st time with this and after months devs confirmed it as cheat and disabled it from right addons but its back as I see

Honestly there's nothing wrong with aoe's (although limiting them a bit would be nice), what sucks are damage over time aoe's. Placing giant circles on the ground and waiting for your opponent to walk in them. Thanks to our one mode being conquest, people are forced to go into a small circle, so everyone just stacks their ground bs onto points and that's like 50% of pvp. Giant ground circles not only doing damage over time, but applying huge condi damage so that even if you leave you still take damage for a few seconds after.

I wish most of the skills that place circles on the ground became 1 shot abilities; Like rev hammer 3, you aim at a spot on the ground, the ability hits once and thats it. That way you'd actually have to aim them a little more instead of just stacking them on points and forgetting about them.

Why is this under pvp and not pve? It's player versus player. There's no "skilled and not skilled". Whoever is better is better, there's no raidboss with a set difficulty. The only valid factor regarding skilled or not skilled in pvp has to do with mechanics with a lack of control/RNG. Other than that it's just an excuse to complain.

Limiting AOE's is a big mistake, its the other way arround, cleave spam need to be reduced, and some aoe spells need actually to be improved by doubling its targets numbers like meteor shower and increse the CD slighly a bit more.we already have aoe and cleaves on weapons, so auto cleave is oen of the things that is borking up combat system.

I'm all for removing the AOE if Melee attacks had at minimum 1 hitbox worth more range.

Nothing like swinging in mid air when your standing right on top of someone or your burst missing just because you weren't inside their hitbox (GS every class). Even WoW solved this problem in 2006 by adding in 1-2 steps of range to the standard Melee 1yd baseline.

With the base movement speed + quickness boon + ping + ploss + possible desync/animation desync, this game without Condi or AOE would be a complete mess, only rivaled by Blade and Soul (roflmao that game and Melee is a sick joke if you know how ping works in that game)

It had bad balance. Really really really bad balance. It killed the game together with them straight up lying about the EU server.

I always keep hearing that it's much better now but nope. They had their chance and they fumbled it like complete idiots.

Think about it, rather than just knee jerk reacting. GW1 has AOE. What exists is (mostly) either PBAOE or immobile. Even some of the more effective AOE, like Mesmer spells affects only those close to the affected target. A smart target or opposing party will separate and thereby short circuit the aoe. Either way there's skill and risk involved. AOE is useless without a snare or the risk of taking significant damage.

GW2 AOE is larger and mobile. In GW1 you have to consider which target to pick and how it can be snared or otherwise maneuvered to make the aoe effective. In GW2 you just spam things like Sand Shade and Full counter.

There is a night and day skill difference there.
