LFGuild on Sorrow's Furnace (PVE, very casual player)

Recommended Posts

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 for about a month. My main character is a Level 45 Sylvari Ranger. I am slowly taking her around the map to hit every location because I eventually want legendary weapons for her. I also boosted a warrior to level 80 just to get some mounts and a glider, but I really don't like playing him. I consider myself a very casual player as I get more enjoyment out of the game by exploring, watching, reading, and listening, than by combat, which I usually suck at. I would like to get a full set of Ascended Gear and eventually a full set of Legendary Gear. I also want to get all the mounts in the game and fill out their masteries. Doing this quickly isn't as important to me as just making sure I am making progress in the right direction.

I've been playing MMORPGs on and off since 2000 and started with Asheron's Call. Besides Asheron's Call, I've played Lord of the Rings Online, Star Wars The Old Republic, Tera, and Final Fantasy XI, all ranging from several months to a year depending on the game. I have very briefly played Wildstar, Aion, City of Heroes, Black Desert Online, Final Fantasy XIV, and Ultima Online. I have never played World of Warcraft.

Out of all of the games I played, there was only one time where I was part of a guild and that was when I played Asheron's Call. So being part of a guild isn't something I usually do. This is kind of a new thing for me. I almost joined a guild when I was playing Tera, but the toxic atmosphere from most of the people in the groups scared me away from joining. I am interested in the possibility of making new friends and Guild Wars 2 seems like a nice place to do that, but I tend to be a lone wolf and am a very shy person. It takes a lot to get me to open up to people and I am not usually comfortable doing it. So basically I am looking for a very warm and friendly guild full of nice people that are willing to help out a new player. Being in a place where people are kind to one another is very important to me. I don't really know what to expect from a guild since my guild experience is so limited. I would be interested in using Discord voice chat to play with other people, but only after I was comfortable with them.

I got into Guild Wars 2 because a few of my friends were interested in playing it too. My friends and I usually reserve Sunday evenings to game together as a private group. I will never be available to do guild stuff at that time. I also don't think they would be interested in joining a guild. I usually play from 2 to 7 hours every day, but the time I play and my total play time each day can vary quite a bit. Recently I have been playing the most between 9pm and 4am. So, yes, right now I usually play while most people are asleep. I am not interested in switching servers, and am not interested in raids or pvp.

I have some problems with my brain due to an illness. Because of this, I often have some level of brain fog when I play, which makes it challenging for me sometimes to remember things, like directions, or how to do certain things that seem obvious. For example, I will often hit M instead of X to ride my mount. Or I will hit the wrong keys during combat over and over. This is why raiding for me would probably be less than ideal. (I have also never participated in a raid in all my years of gaming.) Due to my memory problems and knowing myself, I also need to mention that I am not a dependable person. I forget quite a bit, all the time. So being consistently available at certain times or for certain events is extremely difficult for me. Besides my illness, I need to mention that I become anxious and stressed out easily and am constantly battling depression. Guild Wars 2 is an avenue I am using to combat my various handicaps, to a certain degree.

Greetings GhettoWario,

It sounds like you might like my little home. We're called The Gryphons Aerie and we’re a very small (approx 55 members), 18+, casual/semi-casual, social and close-knit, PvE family on Tarnished Coast. As long as you're on a NA-based server, you'll be able to tag along with us in our adventures; we don't do any serious participation in WvsW. Our current peak time tends to be in the mid-late evening EST (UTC-5), starting around reset, but we have a few others who are around from a variety of other time zones as well. We try to have a mix of scheduled events and random things during the week according to what folks want to do. We also love helping both new and returning players get back on their feet.

We’re willing to help out with any and all questions as best as we can, whether it's dungeons/Fractals, builds, and other general game questions. All you need to do is ask. We also don’t do the “speed runs”, exploits, etc, nor require anyone to bring a specific class or build for any dungeon run. Bring whatever you want and we'll have fun regardless. We gladly teach any content we're doing and take as much time as necessary so that everyone understands when we explain what's going on during the adventure.

We know that RL comes first and stress that fact. We’ll still be there even if you can’t for a bit of time. Just leave a little note to let us know you'll be away, and all is well.

We do not demand 100% representation. It’s not our business to tell you who you can and cannot associate with; that choice is yours alone.

We are focused on providing a place where people can feel comfortable and as though they are more than just a name on the roster. We want everyone to feel like family. We are very LGBTQ+ affirmative and do not tolerate any sort of derogatory words, comments, bigotry etc. toward anyone regardless of nationality, race, religious beliefs, gender identity or sexuality. Anyone violating that policy is subject to immediate removal, no questions asked. We also do our best to accommodate everyone's varying needs whether they have a mental or physical disorder/illness going on.

We also have a Discord, where everyone is expected to use the text channels to some degree, but the voice channels are never required.

In order to maintain our "quality vs. quantity" aspect and help build the family-like atmosphere of the guild, we require an application. This application asks only for basic information to help us try to organize things to fit around everyone's schedules and takes just a few minutes.

For more information, and to take the next step in joining us, please visit our Recruitment Listing and Guild Website.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note here or contact either myself, Silverfyre.4836, sonofall.6757, or BoopSanders.6025 in game and we'll do our best to answer them.

Greetings Aria. Thank you for the warm response. I submitted an application on your guild website forum. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Cheers,

--Brian
