Super-Diluted Adventure Box

Recommended Posts

I'm a huge fan of Super Adventure Box and it's the festival I look forward the most throughout the year. While I appreciate all the effort Anet is putting into trying to keep Super Adventure Box fresh, I don't care much for some of the things we get each year, such as oozes and choya racing. I think it's unnecessary and it overcomplicates a mini-game which was supposed to be straightforward and simple in principle.
I do like the glitch weapons and new skins in general, but ultimately I think it would be better if I could obtain them just like any other SAB weapon skin, instead of them being shoehorned into the world. Even the bee-dog races in the hub are a bit much. And while all of it is optional, it clutters the world while also reminding players that the team responsible for it is wasting their time and resources, instead of putting all of their efforts into creating World 3.Please keep in mind that SAB came out in 2013, and there has not been a hint of World 3 since then. It's the equivalent of releasing an early access game on steam and adding new optional things to it instead of trying to finish it. At this point I'm a bit worried that in 5 years we will have 5 more 'side-quests' packed into each stage, while the rest of the game remains unfinished. As things are now, old SAB fans are becoming frustrated while new players are becoming confused by all the unnecessary additions.I really love this festival, so could you please stop cluttering the world with new quirky ideas, and instead focus on making World 3 and World 4 as fun and challenging as possible? I don't mind waiting - it's waiting while seeing all the new unnecessary things added that bothers me.

They also said it might not be next year either

Op - I’m on the fence with this one. I can totally understand the point, although it does freshen it up for some of us. I hope though w3 and w4 is a return to less about challenging and more about the simple fun of w1. W2 was initially poorly received (hence the changes) and I hope they have learnt the lessons about making long, overly thought out levels

Why is the SAB chair also not returning this year? It's my first SAB and I really wanted to buy it. This is the one I'm talking about, sadly it's not coming to the store this year? I feel cheated, this is something that only comes around once per year, and I waited for it specifically to buy this, but they forgot/chose not to put it back in the store for purchase. So much for wanting to give ANet my money... https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Super_Adventure_Box_Chair

You have to remember that a new world would mean tons of work. And balancing. (People did not like the world 2 zones 2 and 3 in tribulatoin cause too long.) Should not get any longer than world 2. (But shorter instead.)

Also: For a lot of people world 2 tribulation means lots of work. Since not everyone played constantly since release and it is sooo exhausting that not many would want to grind it during the 21 days. So spreading it over multiple years. Maybe 2-3 skins each year. Still a lot of content.

That minor stuff like new skins and oozes (there already is tons of stuff) seems pointless though. I'd rather get some armor lol. :D

I sort of agree regarding w2z3, but w2z2 is my favorite. There's a legitimately challenging skip that can be performed just before the part where you need to push the blocks around while the angry cloud shoots at you and it allows you to skip all of that and the big fish temple and instead head straight to the boss. It makes the entire zone doable in about 5 minutes for speed runners and probably about 10 minutes or a little less for us mere mortals. I very much doubt that the skip was intended to be possible, but I hope that if a w3 every comes the zones are long but incredibly difficult skips are intentionally hidden throughout the zones. There's something really fun about searching for ways to beat the system.

I don't think i've ever being so thoroughly tired in GW2 as i was in SAB world 2. Just unbearable.

Do you know if there exists videos about that skip? Or of it is in the wiki? Is it timed or are you getting attacke by mobs when doing it? Then it might be very hard to learn. (Otherwise it probably is possible to learn it.)

I played SAB in 2012 and 2013. Then again in 2020 for the first time - after a long break. Took me a lot of time to get into it. Was hard and painful to do the tribulation mode but I manged to finish the set in W1. Now (only 3 weeks year before they gave an extra week because of Covid) I'm trying W2. But still only complated zone 1 and zone 2 one time. Zone 3 maybe later or tomorroe. (Then 1 more weapon for the set.) I notciced that it took me pretty long for zone 2. (Zone 1 pretty easy.) But I tried to remember stuff without guide/video. And I get the feel it will be easier once I try the repeated runs for more tokens later. (Probably grinding each zone until I have enough tokens first. Then the next zone.) Might not finish the set this year. But next year I guess. (I thought it would take me longer/feel harder.9

What I noticed: About the gong pagoda: Was it always skippable? I found an old vid where someone showed a skip to avoid some trap. But I remember it from last year I think: I just seemd to walk past it normally without any special skip. That already saved some annoying stuff. (Gong Pagoda and the block pushing with the cloud and the mini boss with the glove ... are most annoying there it seems.)

Edit: This one I guess:
